It did. It also went up under Bush. In fact every president since the automobile has seen gas prices fluctuate. Did you notice that when prices went down because of all of the lock downs that when all the non-communists states opened back up that gas prices remained low? I am not saying Trump had anything to do with that. Unless a (democrat) president passes some new regulation on the oil industry the president does not cause gas prices to increase. And unless a (republican) president repeals those idiotic restrictions then oil prices won't decrease. Then there are all of those state gas taxes that the democrats started.
The real problems always happen when the Democrats are in power.
Biden shutting down the XL pipeline caused gas prices to increase mostly in areas where the refineries were serviced by the pipeline. Because those evil pipelines, as Gov Whitmer said, are "ticking time bombs". I guess Democrats think those pipelines are designed specifically to spill oil everywhere because oil companies really enjoy losing profits and incurring more overhead expenses to fix pipes. Not to mention all those lawsuits, oil companies just love those.
Leftists want alternative energy sources so bad that they are willing to send us back to the 1800's until a new energy source that is as efficient and inexpensive as oil is developed. But before they shut down all energy production they will make it so only the rich can afford to put gas in their tanks. And because the left hates capitalism they will be looking to the government to innovate a new alternative energy source. Historically governments are where all innovation occurs, said no sane person ever.
