The funny thing is that they have the audacity to claim they are supporting or promoting equality.

"If you know that show Boondocks, that character would ever agree with your racist position"

never agree.

and I wasn't being a racist, either. What makes you believe that my agreement to this meme makes me the bad guy, compare to those who pushing their "equality" narrative that they don't follow?

It's the underlying reason for the meme in the first place. People were calling us racists for fighting for voter ID. You had to be there, I guess.

It's about pure government control. Something we don't want. But our party keeps crying about it then doing the opposite with things like voter ID.
It's getting embarassing to be republican.

It's about government of the people, by the people and for the people. Those aren't just platitudes.

Yeah, even back then that was said with a snicker and a giggle.

So you are against any form of election integrity?

That’s actually optional. It can delay your return in some states if you don’t provide it though. Let me assure you, Uncle Sam isn’t about to put a barrier on getting your money.

In my home state of Georgia, it is required to electronically file, but obviously not required if you just mail in your tax return.

Fair enough. Not required, but extremely inconvenient.

How many of the voter fraud claims from this go-round are ID related? The only fair election is one conservatives win. Otherwise, it was definitely fraud. /S

Not voter fraud. Election interference. Russia interfered. Are you saying they didn’t? Just because they interfered doesn’t mean Trump didn’t win. The question at hand was whether he solicited the interference.

There was evidence of interference as confirmed by our intelligence community.

Whether the interference was sufficient to change the results is unknowable.
0 ups, 3y,

well, just for the food for thought. What is the actual claim by the Democrat party about "Russian interference" with the 2016 election? How did Russia interfere and what did they interfere with? The implied claim is that Russian interference caused Trump to win instead of Hillary. If that's is so, how did Russia change any votes for Trump instead of Hillary. If Russia didn't change any votes, then what interference did they really cause? The entire 4 years of Trump, the Democrats, along with the media, daily attacked Trump under the whole premise that Trump was not legitimately elected, as in the whole #NotMyPresident hashtag trend. If Trump was not legitimate, in what way? Did he not receive enough electoral votes to win? Did Russia change any votes?
1 up, 3y
The claim is Russia went through a propaganda campaign to support Trump. This included them having teams of people on social media spreading false information, creating groups, etc. It also included the DNC hacks. Whether they just thought he would be better for them, thought an inexperienced leader would be easier to manipulate, or they just didn't like Hillary, who knows? They also (according to intelligence) preferred Bernie over Biden for 2020. Do with that what you will.

Votes weren't changed, they were influenced. This is why I say we don't know who would have won without the interference. There's no way to predict how votes would have gone. So, if that had been the end of it, then Trump is president and it isn't his fault....but he did say in one speech that someone should hack into Hillary's stuff (I think that was the phrasing, its been a while). Also the meetings his people had with Russian Agents. however, the investigation didn't find evidence of that...now there was a bit of obstruction and refusal to assist with the investigation...but the house didn't go after that, so whatever. The Russia probe in the end found that by legal definition Trump would have had to request Russia's assistance and understand that he owed them something back in return for it to be illegal. They concluded there was no evidence of an agreement of that sort.

Now, the "good news" is that when Russia tried the same thing leading into 2020 it was determined that we now spread so much propaganda ourselves that the Russian attempts at influence were generally falling flat. So yay. We now spread so much BS that it drowns out manipulative BS.

Not my president - I never said it. He was my president even if I was never happy about it. Seems a lot of people on the right are saying the same thing about now. Clinton had to work through an impeachment trial. If he did solicit aid from Russia, then he should have been impeached. The investigation was to determine that. If he had cooperated it would have been over faster with a lot less doubt, but that is just my opinion. As far as the media attacking him...the media is a business and the minute people stopped caring about it, they would have stopped reporting on it.

Once I had to get my license reinstated. (This was before online dmv) I had to travel 240 miles to the area that I had to pay off to two different DMVs. Traveled by bus and train to do it. There's a way to get somewhere if you want to. Especially if you know someone who drives. 5 miles isn't far.

Republicans abuse showing ID?
If ID is unnecessary, why is it required for so many things? Let me guess, since an insignificant number of teens die from tobacco use, there’s no need to require ID to purchase cigarettes, right?
You have no argument and the charade that requiring ID to vote is voter suppression is just a cover for Democrats who solicit votes from poor and minorities by making false promises to take from the rich and give to the poor, like Robin Hood.

And it isn't open to that. The few who try are caught. The system works without ID.

Only, you mean...the one in your area. Well, first, let's make sure you're not confusing state and federal government. But if one in my area closes? I go to the dmv in another area.

Ok. Now imagine you DON'T know someone who drives. And even if you did, think of the people who just wouldn't have the gas money to spare, or the time off work.

[deleted]

But now imagine that there isn't. Because that's the thing with urban planning: it's not just the fact that they closed the local DMV, it's also that there's no busses, there are no mechanics even if you did have a car, gas is difficult And expensive to get.... there's a long list of things that seem solvable to you BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN A NEIGHBOURHOOD WHERE A SOLUTION EXISTS.

And there is a reason why there are places where they don't. And that's really the deeper point people are getting at, if you'll listen to them instead of lecturing them.

Driving is a privilege not a right. It requires skill to learn how to drive and money to pay for everything. Voting is the whole basis for a democracy. You can't compare them unless you like vote suppression, if so go move to north Korea.
[deleted]

You dont need to know how to drive to get an ID. You need a birth certificate, proof or residency, and $13
2 ups, 3y,

Yes, voting is a right, but only in the voting district where you live and only if you’re old enough. An ID validates those requirements have been met.
