It was true during the 1950s which conservatives love to lionize, and it’s true today.

Widespread union membership, the GI Bill, progressive taxation rates that would make modern-day Republicans blush: The 1950s had it all.

And now that we are no longer shackled with a Jim Crow society that throttles the human potential of minorities (at least not formally under the law) — imagine what we could achieve if we implemented some of those same policies today, along with a side dose of extra help for the minorities which the racist policies of prior generations disenfranchised?

We now have a President who favors all those things; we shall see how much of that agenda for progress actually survives the toxic politics of our day and the razor-thin Senate majority

Unions became parasites that destroyed their hosts, many times over, which is key to why they're a shadow of their former selves.

Racism and ec development - you're buying the manufactured media narrative. Getting Republicans in uplifts the neighborhoods because it lets the people themselves better it. I know, I used to live in one. Getting in Dems gets you looting and torching and burning, and the minorities themselves in tears as they watch their life's work go up in smoke. That's the reality.

Since the top has to support the bottom - by paying higher tax rates, gifts to charity, welfare, etc - any perceived growth from the bottom is actually coming from the top.
