Look man the problem is that there is still racism today even though slavery is gone and so is segregation. Prejudices against people with colored skin are deeply rooted into our society’s culture. If people are asking for reparations it’s probably because people can be freaking racist jerks.

1 of the biggest problems is racial profiling. This one guy was shot and killed by police while walking into his own house with his whole family watching. The cop claimed he was waving a gun around. While yes the guy owned a gun -- that he was licensed to own-- said gun was in the car and the only thing in his hand was a subway sandwich. How the heck do you see a guy just walking into a house holding a sandwich and think "oh he's waving a gun I have to shoot him!" IN WHAT UNIVERSE DOES A SUBWAY SANDWICH LOOK LIKE A GUN?!?!

Also what we mean is that like with everything that happens when 1 generation does something wrong is that the next has to try to amend it basically. We can't keep going on like nothing happened. We may not be able to change what happened in the past but at least we can do our best to ensure a better future! It doesn't apply to white people either.
