This man needs a Medal of Honor, and the rest of the cops who did not provoke violence against the “protesters”

Officer Goodman is a true PATRIOT, not the scum Trump domestic terrorists that invaded the Capitol.

False equivalence. The deeds of one do not exonerate the deeds of another. Your statement only exposes your moral double standards and subjective views on when violence is acceptable

BLM and ANTIFA riots, ever seen the news at all?

Apparently you don't grasp the definition of equivalence

apparently, you dont understand the difference between a few people being hostile and an entire mob burning down people's homes and businesses

One crime is called arson and assault the DC event is called sedition and treason your moral double standards and attempt to excuse Trump supporters borders on being a sympathizer and some would say that makes you just a guilty
0 ups, 3y
im only saying that the attack on the capitol was not terrorism, not being a sympathizer

Sure they do lol Human nature is not a political party humans will lie cheat and still when they feel it serves their best interests

It's funny because they actually believe they can excuse their bs while condemning others

True. But its not Human nature, Its our own desire

I would agree that it is not the deeds of the one that exonerate the deeds of the other. Rather, it is the justification of the one's similar deeds that calls for similar justification of the other, or, on the contrary, the condemnation of the other that calls for consistent condemnation of the one. Don't get me wrong; I completely agree that the Capitol rioting was atrocious, and I think that it is a prime example of how extremists can discredit reasonable people with similar views, thus preventing positive change. I think that many of us would simply like to see at least equal condemnation for BLM/Antifa riots that were at least equally destructive, unnecessary, and uncalled for.

Most of the violence was from the right

This was a protest that went wrong. Trump said "Make sure your voices are PEACEFULLY and PATRIOTICALLY heard," and then something went wrong in there. and this was one night. This compared NOTHING to the riots last year. Campaigning against police.

He also said that they would never take back the country with weakness AND Giuliani called for trial by combat.

Even though I'm a "rightie" (I'm only saying this because I'm 100% sure I'm not on the left), this is a good meme. Most of your upvotes come from "righties" on this one, my friend.

Increasing accountability for police officers is a bi-partisan issue. Everyone wants a good, trustworthy police force. This guy did a great job.

Great, I’m glad we can see eye to eye on this one.

The flip side is that we liberals are criticizing the Capitol Hill officers who took down barriers, posed for selfies with rioters, etc.

Those officers are being disciplined and/or fired — just like the officers involved in the unjustified use of force decisions that caused massive protests last year.

We also roundly criticized Trump for not ordering in the National Guard, and praise Pence for doing the same. Which is right in line with what national security pros themselves say.

Turns out liberals have pretty much the same nuanced views on police conduct as Police Departments themselves.

Both parties want the same thing, but the way to get there is concealed by shitty language patterns. If I say "I don't agree with the BLM movement," I will be called a racist. If a liberal says they don't agree with some right-wing value, they'll be called a"libtard" or whatever. Total bullshit. Everyone has a right to feel how they feel and with the amount of lies we've all bought, we should be giving eachother a "pass" for being downright confused. The media has driven a huge barrier between the right and the left, and I believe it's on purpose.

The conversations have to be motivated by understanding and reconciliation. Most people just want to be right.

So, question - why did you criticize Trump for NOT calling in the National Guard, yet praised Mike Pence for doing so? (I don't know anything about this part of the story)
1 up, 3y
I agree with everything you said, but I think that you may have misunderstood what Kamikaze said. (I don't blame you; it's confusingly worded) I believe what he was saying was that he criticizes trump for not calling in the National Guard, and praises Pence for calling in the National Guard. "The same" in "and praise Pence for doing the same" is referring to Pence doing the same thing that Trump should have done, but did not do: Calling in the National Guard.

Guys like this barged through the chamber not long after it was evacuated

And this contraption was set up outside

This mob wanted to hang Mike-freaking-Pence, it’s not hard to imagine what they would have done to Nancy Pelosi or any other Democrat they got their hands on really

Perhaps you ought to read up about what really happened here

If he was white, he would’ve been opening doors for the rioters, like a lot of the other white cops were doing.

Just jokes, folks...

If he was doing what Officer Goodman was doing he would have gotten the same praise. Yes the praise is elevated because a black man would have probably been in more danger, since many people in that crowd were white supremicists, who very likely would have killed officer Goodman without hesitation.

Walked up some steps with someone right behind him recording it. Not really clear what he did. Every media story, real or staged, has to have a "hero" narrative.
