Believe it or not I had a similar, if not stranger thing happen to me yesterday. I was in the store and it well stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, etc. There were signs everywhere saying one item per customer. I put one package of TP and one package of paper towels in my cart and went on about my shopping.

When I was checking out, however, the kid told me that I could only buy one paper product, TP or paper towels, but not both.

Maybe they are running out of stock because people are trying to stock up on food, why would you need more than three bread items anyway

Maybe to buy enough to cover an extended period of time, meaning you can then self-isolate longer.

Or maybe you have large family? Which could be a multiplicative factor to the first point.

You aren’t going to die because you can only have three bread products! When ordering online with instacart it only lets us get one of each tp product, that isn’t communism or is stored trying to not run out of stock

What's your point? All I did was answer your question with possible reasons for needing more than three bread items.

Responding with why the stores are limiting items has literally nothing to do with why someone might need 3 or more of those items.
