People have a hard time maintaining social distancing past a certain hour of the night.

Letting these establishments remain open until 10 but no longer strikes a compromise between commerce and health/safety, just like we’ve all been trying to do this entire time.

Is it the right compromise? Who knows.

So what, people can social distance at one point of the day, but they can't manage it at another?

It could be seen as something of a compromise, but since it really does nothing, what are we really compromising with?
2 ups, 3y,

In theory they can, but in practice they don’t.

I mean, this is sound logic to anyone who has been out on the town late at night. As the night wears on people get intoxicated on being around others and, well, just plain intoxicated. Social distancing precautions that were easier to observe at an earlier point in the night become less so. People revert to old habits.

There’s the fact that people tend to bar-hop past a certain hour thus bringing them into contact with more different groups of strangers.

And the simple fact that being in the bar from 10-2 (hypothetically) means 4 more hours of potential exposure even if we assumed everyone was following proper precautions (since even following proper precautions doesn’t reduce the risk of transmission to zero, it only lowers it).

There’s nothing much these orders can do to stop people from taking the party to a private residence for example, but at least then they’re less likely to be mingling with a whole bunch of strangers.

Time of day doesn't matter, is what I'm saying.

Hmm, every time I hear excuses it's always about bars and drinking. What about for all the millions of people who don't go to bars? Is this supposed to protect them?

If you've ever bin to a bar or party, shit doesn't go down till after 10, when people are boozed up and inhabitions go out the window. We've alllll done stupid shit after a night of partying.

Yessss, but that doesn't tell me why the CURFEW is necessary
Stds? What are we trying to do now, eradicate every disease from the face of the earth through lockdowns?

But what does that have to do with curfew?
There can be large crowds during the day just as well as at night

So if they're not happening at night, what's to stop them from just have them during day?
Yes, I know what a curfew is

They know exactly what you’re saying, and they know it’s the truth, but maintaining the illusion is more important to those two than admitting you have a valid point.

Hey dumb dumb, people work during the day drink and party at night, drink and party in large groups, next think you know you're paying chicks to make out with eachother then eventually taking one home, partying does that, hence the curfew to stot peaple from partying and getting all frisky like spreading shit around. I guess you have to be a fun outgoing person to experience such delights.
3 ups, 3y
WoW, I wonder what promiscuous place you live in. That happens in the day as well as the night.

Well I'm not out drinkin', carrousing, bar hopping, caterwalling, chaseing skirts, dancing or hooting with the owls during the day. I'm working

Dense is what I call Canadian liberals trying to tell me about my country. 10,000 plus dead in Canada that’s about the same as Southern California area with about the same population. Factor in the riot super spreader events and population density and you ain’t doing any better.

No food lines where I live. There’s more people where I live than in your entire country. Who said anything about day partying? Curfews do nothing. People will violate as they determine risk. The youth don’t feel the risk and continue to act as all youth do regardless of a dumb curfew.

You can only do that at a bar? Ever heard of an after party? People that are going to do that are just going to start after parties earlier. Curfews are bullshit and about control. You Canadians do that compliance bullshit very well.

No, they're not. Most people have already had covid, most of them were already immune in the first place, and wouldn't feel worse than the cold or flu, since it is the same strand.

Because all these encroaching policies that they have forced on us have worked, haven't they? "Oh the second wave! States are in the color purple (zone)!! Ahhh!! We need to lockdown, and wear masks!!!" Because that certainly worked the first time.

Yeah, curfews are just encouraging people to a) start drinking earlier and/or b) leave the bar and go to someone's house where they'll do stupid shit just with no mask mandate.

As I'm sure you've heard, you can't fix stupid.
