Well there are newbs unaware or unprepared or not wanting to get in discussions, so I can see for maybe them it makes sense, but then perhaps those who post memes like that should be frozen from posting comments themselves. I've seen a couple usual suspects doing it and anonymous posts, which probably is one or both of those. A noob I could get, if it's not a meme goading his other political opponents but I think most here are pretty good about not going too hard against noobs. I try, unless they get really insulting. At the least, I hope they disable it for the politics stream. This should be a battleground with back and forth. It's one of the few places I know of where it's mostly fair to all sides with little censorship. Tho I wonder how Nat would fare here these days.

Some folks are here solely to make memes to post elsewhere (as I originally was with my first account - not even knowing there was this whole discussion thing happening - though that often unpolitical memes), so that option makes sense, but then they wouldn't be venturing onto other memes anyways.

lol was looking back awhile ago at years old memes and I think I found where we cooled down with each other. Damn, we used to go at it pretty bitterly at the start! But yeah, after a couple years, it's easier to get past things when you interact with them so often, let alone as many years as you've been here. With so many gone, even from my time, i feel more of a respect for the oldtimers that have stuck around, even if I disagree with them, like Sew.

An earlier account of mine used to go on what I called, "Russbot Patrols," just labeling folks that and not getting in any discussions with them. Had a lot of fun with that, but then it got harder as I got to know people, even the ones I didn't jibe with well, so I grew more relunctant to do it and it would have been unfair to do it only to a shrinking few, so that was the end of that...

I hope she returns as well. From the tone I do believe she must have been drunk that night, as she started getting all chummy again.

And not only are there 'liberal' leaning memers who routinely downvote, or even gangup to do so, many are particularly cheap with unpvotes, which are the ONLY way to counter lowrated comments and eventually comment timers should that happen,,,

You don't require much information to ascertain proof.
The worst censorship is when MODS delete your comment because they don't like you or what you have to say. In time you might ascertain that this doesn't happen here but is happening in other politics streams.
Upvotes and downvotes are just how you get to show your like or dislike for a meme and it's subject. If having your comments move down because of downvotes and be grouped into low rated comments bothers you, then toughen up princess. That's just how it works and we can still read them anyway and as strange to you as it might seem but people still open the low rated comments and read them.

True, I almost never leave the low-rated comments collapsed, mainly because that is where I can usually find the people who most disagree with me and see the other side of the debate.
