The double-standard from the left when it comes to abuse, reminds me of this situation...

fdr | I HANDED OUT WAY MORE PARDONS THAN OBAMA AND I REALLY DON’T CARE WHO’S BUSINESS IT IS | image tagged in fdr | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Can’t argue with the numbers. Obama was bad, but FDR was making it look like a Trend.

Overall the Dems have definitely given more pardons. We can only hope that “some” of those pardons were for legitimately innocent decent people.

True. Even though Trump has pardoned so few, a couple are disputable. Like Stone. Almost scary to think how many FDR let go that caused damage during the depression..

But he didn't pardon Stone. He commuted the sentence. As Mueller pointed out, Stone is still a convicted felon, and rightly so.

Only 1927 pardons for Obama? That seems a little conservative.

Sorry, I wasn't talking about proof of Stone's guilt. I agree that he's guilty. Not just found guilty, but guilty.

I'm not so sure that commuting his sentence was an abuse of power. Even Mueller pointed out that he's still a convicted felon.

So what message were you trying to convey by posting that photo of Stone and Nixon?

I'll be happy to educate you.

Pardons and Commutations are supposed to go through a process. Of course, as in the case of some like Marc Rich, it's not exactly a thorough process.

Clinton has claimed many times that he was under pressure from the Israeli government and, American factions that were Pro-Israel. Rich may have been involved with the American Intelligence services (unsubstantiated). All of these along with his history with the Democratic party contributed to the pardon.

Clinton was investigated by the Bush DoJ, and they found no evidence of corruption or criminality to the pardon.

However.

What Trump has done with Stone is some serious bullshit. Serious.

Stone was convicted by a jury of his peers of lying to Congress, specifically about contacting Wikileaks and coordinating the leaks with the Trump campaign.

It wasn't a hoax. It wasn't fake. He was convicted for his very provably lies and actions.

He also threatened another witness with death unless that witness also lied to Congress.

It wasn't a hoax. It wasn't fake. He did it. And was convicted.

He lied to protect Donald Trump and he threatened another witness with death if that witness also didn't lie.

Trump commuted his sentence. He commuted Stone's supervised release. He communted Stone's $20,000 fee.

This is corruption that not even Nixon dared to try to do.

If you don't understand this, I can explain it to you in further detail.

This is the single greatest act of corruption in American history. It undermines our judicial system. It undermines our rule of law. It is antithetical to everything we say we are.

Please explain the process presidential pardons go through?

You bet.

1) You have to submit your request to the Office of the Pardon Attorney. This can be online or via mail.

2) It can only be for Federal or Military requests.

3) According to DoJ Guideline: , 28 C.F.R. §§ 1.1 there is a minimum 5 year wait time. This is meant for the applicant to have time show that they have repented of their crime and lead a good and just life.

4+ a bunch of paperwork stuff that you have to submit to prove you're a person, pay your bills, etc.

Then the Office of the Pardon Attorney actively investigates you, your crimes, and your life. For years. 5 at the soonest.

That is a very good explanation of how to ASK the President for a pardon. There is no process the President has to follow grant a pardon. The President can pardon anyone at any time.
reply

Ya that’s not the presidential pardon process. That’s a standard request for pardon

Where in the Constitution does it say that pardons and commutations are supposed to go through a process?

Sure, that's the precedent, and I'm not saying they shouldn't be subjected to a review process, but strictly speaking, where is it mandated?

Also, it's an incredible over-reaction imo, to say this is "the single greatest act of corruption in American history." Even with the impact you believe it would have on our judicial system, that's ignoring an awful lot of US history. Besides, Stone wasn't pardoned; he's still a convicted felon, and rightly so,as Mueller pointed out.

Why we are EXCEPTIONAL...only country in the world where are RIGHTS are given to us at birth. Inalienable rights. We the People are THE boss of We the People....defined...! The problem lies in the sad fact that many don't want to be their own boss...they want SECURITY over Freedom...such it is with SECOND stringers....fear of failure....creates the reality of failure....as one will be as they see themselves to be...i.e. victim, loser, victim, loser,
