Yep, and she had the nerve to attack Bloomie while she lied about her heritage for personal gain and not one of those democucks had the balls to call Pocahontas out on her lies and fraud.

Name one politician who hasn't stretched the truth.

You know why that is? Because that was shown to be bullshit years ago and the only people still talking about it is you guys.

Oh yes, Harvard's first 'POC' professor was total bullshit. An actual poc was deprived of a position because Pocahontas lied about her heritage, but that doesn't matter when it's a democrat, huh? F**king hypocrite.

Someone needs to tell Elizabeth Warren that it was BS.

Some Native Americans did. It was a whole thing. It ended with an apology from her, a rewrite of her platform for Native issues, and their endorsement.

OH WOW! She apologized for committing fraud! All good now!

She apologised for the sentiments it stirred among the Native communities. The fraud part is entirely drama-queen hyperbole on your collective part.

This is why I know your constant outrage is a farce.

I think meritocracy should rule rather than affirmative action but being as it is, there's no doubt she misrepresented herself for personal gain. That's as wrong as Shaun 'white guy' King getting an Oprah scholarship. Yet you'd probably cry over a high school girl committing the crime of wearing a Chinese style dress while not Asian at prom.

You sure? As annoying and fake sounding Warren is (I've said on this site that she sounds like a politician emulating a politician), and while I ain't up on the details of this stale news, everyone I've ever encountered from PA and South from there (except Florida, where most I've known have been NY & PR transplants) have claimed to have Cherokee blood. Every. single. one. Blonde/blue, pale as anything, NW Euro looking, they all claim it. It's like a running joke minus a punchline. Like, how did this happen, they had conjugal visits with 'American' women while walking the Trail of Tears?
I had met someone in the 90s who you can see it in her facial features that is was true, and her story - which went to her grandfather - sounded legit. But other than her, it's been 100% claims without so much as an Oklahoma tan.

Sure, Warren took advantage of the system, but maybe she didn't know she was lying.

I get where you're coming from but for her to parade around as a 'poc' is patiently ridiculous. But Harvard takes blame too. They obviously wanted to showcase how woke they were and couldn't even wait to hire someone that was an actual minority.

Then releasing her dna results and expecting redemption was the ultimate joke. Sheesh, she makes Pelosi look likeable in comparison.

It's not that to excuse it, basically it's that it's just baloney that's been passed around for generations because it gives them some sort of cred. To be a REAL American, not some European transplant and also to share in the "muh peeples have suffered too, ya know" dance that tends to be reserved for minorities.
Kinda harder to brag you live on stolen land than to say great great granny got raped and the result of that 'union' centuries later is...

To think Harvard, other universities, and whatever organizations and businesses actually want anything more than token diversification is to not having been paying attention. Look who's working there and see who's higher up and see their qualifications. For every Warren who gets the teaching gig you'd be surprised how many never get tenure because reasons.

I agree. My grandmother (from rural West TN) told me stories growing up about how we had a “drop of Cherokee blood” in our heritage.

(Grandma had a lot of stories — both she and my mother did. Part of southern culture, I guess.)

Add to that the fact that Warren’s home state, Oklahoma, has an especially large native population — thanks to U.S. reservations, the Trail of Tears, etc. So it is not difficult for me to believe Warren’s explanation that it was a part of her family lore.

I never checked any boxes myself, but I imagine that is how it happened in Warren’s case.

She should have dug deeper before checking boxes. But it’s not the scandal it’s been made to be. At most, ticking the box as a youngster revealed a blind spot on racial issues on Warren’s part, which Warren apologized repeatedly for.

Taking the DNA test, and then crowing about the results, was a more obvious unforced error on her part. She apologized for that too.

Oklahoma was initially established as an Indian Republic for the "five civilized tribes" (Cherokee being one). Then there was the settler land rush and later, oil under what they had left. As a result many became well off compared to the invaders, so much so that to marry one was "marrying up."
There were also schemes to rob them of such land, from cons to murders and one delightful law where a settler can declare a Native mentally insufficient and petition to become their guardian via the courts, thus gaining control of their assests including the oil.

Anyways, mixing was common enough that today many Caucasian Oklahomans are olive toned or rather easily tannable, a legacy of this earlier mixing.

Anecdotal and seemingly implausible, an ex of mine in the early 90s told me her bestie - an illegal who arrived from Sicily when he was 2 - applied to college as a Hispanic in order to qualify for financial aid. "If they can get it, why can't we?" was the excuse. Maybe not being a citizen, pal? I suspect may ex may have also applied for the same the same way (Italian, born here tho), but didn't tell me since it pissed me off exploiting the system like that, and with me being the one that encouraged her most to go to college...

Anyways, the point is, surprise! the 'truth' can be rather adjustable when it comes to saving money.
