I think it was a bad thing to force people to change their lives and traditions.

That is basically British Colonialism in a nutshell.
Stampede over the natives' land and ways, and make them give you tea.
Glorious days.

They had guns, the British gave them to them to fight the fledgling American state. Guess what, the military had more guns and they won.....

The colonists had less guns than the British and yet they won. Your example is hardly applicable across the board. Also, in before you start whining about spain and france, considering neither country formed an alliance with us until AFTER we'd already defeated and forced the surrender of british armies.

Well it is hard to split them between colonists and the British as the division between the two wasn't really that clear as it was essentially a civil war. Even in those days, the amount of guns held in the 12 colonies was very high (Over 50% of estates registered at least one gun so in terms of sheer numbers they had more guns than the British forces), they weren't all just plucky farmers rising up to throw off tyranny.... also home advantage played a huge part in the outcome of the war.
