I didn't see the actual Golden Globes clip, but I did listen to Ben Shapiro and Matt Walshe's podcasts, which covered the ordeal.

Did you hear Michelle Williams's speech, which included abortion? It was RIDICULOUS.

She gave that ridiculous speech while pregnant which made it more cringe.

I just saw it on youtube, and I agree with the comments here. Btw, I think the name is "Ronan," though I had to look up who it was.

Ahhhh, nice catch. That's actually Frank Sinatra's son, not Woody Allen's, btw.

Hollywood writers wrote it and he read it off a teleprompter. He was just goofing on y'all.
1 up, 5y
Yes, hollywood writers wrote that to ruin their feel goodery hugbox. You actually think anyone here believes that?

Listened to the whole thing. Pretty meh. Same basic roast he's done before there.

Anytime someone speaks truth to power it's a win, no matter the source.

"Truth to power"? Do Hollywood liberals in the movie and television industries hold the power in society, really?

Or are they just easy, highly visible targets and a pleasant distraction from issues that matter?

They are hypocrites that should be mocked. They all knew about Weinstein for decades. And others for decades before that.

You REALLY think they have no impact in shaping culture? F**k 'em.

Hollywood's biggest hits of late have been superhero movies: Pleasingly simple and conservative narrative arcs about timeless tropes such as the hero's journey into adulthood and the clash of good and evil. All serviced by lots of CGI and explosions.

The only thing remotely subversive or controversial to emerge from Hollywood is when the directors dare to cast a female or a person of color in a hero role. Subversive and controversial... how exactly? Because the hero role is only for white men?

If you want to find anything remotely subversive, then you'll have to take a look at independent and foreign cinema.

And Weinstein? Eh. Hollywood is not the only industry harboring predators who have gotten away with stuff for a long time. I have no reason to believe every industry doesn't harbor a Weinstein or a few dozen, just Hollywood is one of the more visible ones. Now, his career is ruined and he is the go-to paragon of an asshole sexist male pig. A fitting comeuppance to this particular villain's narrative arc.

Hollywood's biggest flops of late have been reboots. Unpleasing stupid and liberal narrative arcs about feminism and diversity. The typical Tropes such as the patriarchy and racism. There is no originality, No likeable characters, No story, No tickets being sols.

There is nothing remotely good emerging from Hollywood. When directors think changing the lead character to female or a person of color to pander to a specific audience they are saying my ideology is more important than making a good movie I was hired to make.

There have been plenty of female heroes, But certain people ignore them to push their lying narrative.

No one is looking for subversive movies. People want an entertaining movie, Free from politics, agendas and ideologies. People want a good story with likeable characters portrayed by actors/actresses that keep their mouths shut and do the job they were hired to do.

Hollywood is not the only industry harboring predators who have gotten away with stuff for a long time, But it is the only industry run by hypocritical elites lecturing everyone on morality.

You're talking about Weinstein like he was acting as a villain in a role. He was a predator using his position of power to prey on women, While Hollywood elites knew what was happening but stayed quiet to further their careers.

I simply don't view mere casting decisions as pushing any sort of agenda down people's throats. Women and people of color are people too and they can have cool superhero role models as well.

And Hollywood people are people too and they get to have opinions and express them. Like any other random group of people, some of them are dumb. But some are whip-smart.

Others like George Clooney have consistently drawn attention to interesting under-reported issues and done amazing work on behalf of some of the world's poorest people.

How dense are you?

And Hollywood people are people too and they get to have opinions and express them.
Like telling their audience "This movie wasn't made for you" "You're a misogynist if you don't like my movie" "The fans are 'TOXIC" if they don't agree with the agenda we are pushing down people's throats".

Others like George Clooney who own multiple houses in gated communities with armed security tell others illegal immigrants have a right to live in your neighborhood, And say guns are bad.

You are retarded about every topic, So you have that going for ya.

"The only thing remotely subversive or controversial to emerge from Hollywood is when the directors dare to cast a female or a person of color in a hero role"

This was sarcasm aimed at the conservatives who get triggered at the casting decision a female, black, or -- horror of horrors -- black female lead. I don't actually think it's subversive myself. Although: I guess it must be subversive in some way if it is triggering so many.

You're allowed to dislike the new Ghostbusters or whatever (I didn't see it myself, it did not look interesting). But if the reason for your dislike is that it had female leads: then yeah, that's pretty much the definition of misogyny.

Plenty of conservative millionaires and billionaires also live in gated communities with armed security guards so I don't really see this as all that important honestly. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you can't take up causes of poor people. I don't know this for sure but I bet George Clooney gives more to charity than a whole lot of folks.

And yeah: if we had real gun control in this country, we wouldn't need so many security guards.

Comedy is just anectodal and satirical sometimes ironic figments of truth sprinkled with laughter and smothered in doses of reality. When the truth hurts, the ones that hate the truth will not find it funny. No matter what it is about. LGBTQ for instance. Tell a joke they don't like and they are balls to the wall angry. Pun intended of course.
