I have to agree and I'm about as liberal thinking as a kind-of-middle-of-the-road person can be. That's why I don't think this will ever happen. It will never get enough support.
I still think that a black person on average does not have a level playing field, mainly because of Sydney's comment. So, a lump sum means we can wipe our hands of racism and walk away? It won't do anything to change the fact that Sydney brought up, an overrepresentation in welfare. Black or white, growing up in welfare on average, reduces your overall lifetime output. You don't have parents who went to college, you don't have parents who can navigate employment, you likely have no transportation, you're starting at an extreme deficit that is hard to overcome and hard to change the over representation in welfare.
