DOWNVOTES ARE USED FOR CENSORSHIP.

There are gangs of downvoters that go around silencing anyone that they don't agree with or that know things the gangs would like to keep a secret. Fun Stream users are kept unaware of this because any attempt to share the truth with the flock is met with immediate and aggressive retaliation.

TO GET POINTS OFF OF A MEME THAT YOU DON'T LIKE!

4 years ago I made this meme imgflip.com/i/u2sva ... it went to the front page immediately and the very next day, the like/dislike bar was removed which prompted me to make this meme imgflip.com/i/u6eyq ... The Mod Acuity12 made a few comments on this one but they didn't really explain why they removed the like/dislike bar.

We can only assume that they felt it was better for people to NOT know just how badly they were being trolled, which was a really huge problem back then. Out of sight out of mind mentality more or less. People have since voiced a desire to have it brought back but it doesn't look like they're gonna do it.

But then again quite a few of us are. But i dont know everybody here, i barely know a name that isnt even their real name, and thats it. You can guess my name for weeks and you will never get it unless i say it which i never have in the half year ive been on this site.

I've only heard of 2 people in my entire life with my real name.

Ive met like 10, its a semi, not really common name. But in the internet, nobody knows unless you say it at least once, you had no idea i existed until a few months ago, or at least seen my username. (I dont know if you would remember me, +1 point)

It's almost like when they took away downvotes we were blinded to who was downvoting and the only way we would know is if someone told us.
It's almost like knowing the unknown.
I think the reason why they took it away the next day because you clarified that there are some people who would downvote until it was off frontpage.
But if they did bring it back suddenly at an awkward time then it might be strange to see the number of upvotes AND downvotes.
Also I don't even think the downvote button even WORKS!

Personally, I think the only reason they did it was so that they wouldn't have to constantly hear complaints from users about being trolled...When they had the like/dislike bar, people could tell in an instant that they were being trolled and would flood the mods with complaints...if you can't see the downvotes, you're less likely to complain about it and as a result all that complaint traffic is gone. Like I said before...out of sight out of mind.

At least for comments, if it gets downvoted enough it will hide the comment. I'd assume for the original meme it would unfeature

The problem is, "worst memes" is highly subjective. What you call worst, someone else might call best, and vice versa.

Not quite how it works, at least not visibly. I had a meme get dropped back from featured to submitted, but it still showed 34 upvotes. I think memes and comments only need something like 5 or 10 downvotes to get hidden, no matter how many upvotes they have.

So that you can get points without upvoting memes.

I think it's better not to know. For one, I wouldn't want anyone feeling bad for getting down votes. Second, some people would be more likely to downvote (just my opinion there). I hope they never allow it to be shown again.
