Check out the new sections , they gave me 2 submissions in "FUN" and to use my 3rd submission I had to post in "POLITICS"

So basically we can't post more than two memes in any given section, cause I was told that I only have two submissions in politics.

Although, if politics is just like a meme stream (e.g. people can't find the memes via your profile), that takes away some of the benefit. But still. It could be seen as a positive side.

The plan is for all featured streams to be equivalent to the "fun" stream in functionality so there shouldn't be significant benefit in one stream vs. another, except insofar as some users prefer one category over another, and that's exactly the improvement we're trying to add.

We need to add a few more changes to the site before streams will be fully featured though.

I get that s lot of people dislike political memes, but I think this separate streams thing is confusing. Couldn't we just tag it as political in. The same way thing were marked NSFW and give users the option of whether or not to block political memes the same way NSFW ones were? It might also be good to add an ability for other users to suggest tags. Someone might consider a borderline political meme just to be fun.
I dunno, it just seems a lot of these changes are really just (over)reactions to people getting butthurt over oppinions they don't like.

There are actually several reasons we're expanding streams. The fact that it helps the politics issue is nice, but overall streams should also allow more distinct communities to flourish in a way that tags don't quite accomplish.

Too many rules man. The ONLY POSSIBLE advantage I can see is the ability to see more content before getting tired of scrolling...my limit usually 10 pages. So, now I will scroll 10 in each category? Not likely. It will be even easier to grow tired of the terrible content and simply leave the site without buying anything. (Hee hee hee). So we will now have THREE options for front page. I still don't believe it will be a benefit. I liked the MIX of content and I don't like others sterilizing for me. That's MY job. When there is less enjoyment, there is more boredom. That will not foster continued participation. It's clear the site is not that interested in recruiting paying members. Not enough offered. Can't even manage my content effectively. Easier to delete my entire account than to try and edit/ delete thousands of creations. Easier to use my own software and post on mu own sites as I please than to subject my creativity to a gauntlet of filtering for a pitifully limited audience.

THIS is where the political and/ or repost option should go. Can I get a DUH? That way USERS could decide how to filter content and the best memes in all of the categories would have equal chance of front page. My opinion anyway. Basically, now imgflip wants to be 2 sites in one..."not political" and "political" memes...but I predict the entertainment value will not bear it. Don't know if I will stay. Haven't made up my mind yet. Been thinking of leaving anyway for some time. Even paid membership does not offer the options I am looking for. Another member commented on the business approach of the site. If they were to consider a net for paid members, they probably would be generating significant income. Not sure if that is even a consideration for the owner/s of the site. You simply must offer something people want in order to attract them. Personally, this little addictive activity has so little value, I will surely sacrifice it if it gets too ridiculous here. The new developments seem to be going in that direction.

Even if it were set up as an "NSFW" type format, you would still be able to keep track of your own memes on your profile. The way they have it now, you can't do this. Unless I'm not seeing something.

still remains the problem of correct tagging.
as of now it's a mess.

I agree. The "repost" section is nothing but everyone posting the same meme over and over and it's kind of a joke.

worse.
if you introduce one new category you have to introduce dozens.
same stuff will come up with:
-gender issues
-abortion, family
-religion
-dirty memes
-satanic memes
...whatever...

I agree wholeheartedly. I am one of those people who simply like creative political memes. If I agree with the politics, I upvote and comment. If I disagree with the politics, I never try to start an argument. I never downvote it. And I simply scroll to the next meme. While I might not agree with the politics of each and every meme, I feel that people ought to have the right to create whatever political memes they want to, and should let the imgflip community decide which cream rises to the top. Just my 2 cents.

In general streams can have overlap, but stream rules must be followed, so politics and reposts aren't welcome in the "fun" stream, but fun is welcome in the politics stream as long as it's political in nature.

I think it was a big mistake to make the politics a meme stream format. I can't see or keep track of my meme progress in the stream unless I keep searching for it. Big mistake.

Thanks for the feedback, always happy to hear suggestions. Showing stream submissions on profile pages is one of several additional things we plan to add.

Yeah it's integrated with the normal creation process now. Need to continue to the stream select drop-down on the submit popup.

They couldn't silence us with the troll accounts so they separated us from everyone. Resist. Demand "All Memes" as default.

Don't start acting like a victim, it'll make you look like a liberal.
But all joking aside, I think that you're right that it's about censorship. I had noticed that a lot more of my political memes weren't featuring than usual over the past few days, even fairly innocuous ones.

The political memes along with the repost memes, are not getting as much upvotes and views now that they've been moved. Notice all the political memes that have been submitted within the past two days don't have much more than 30-50 upvotes. It works kind of like the "nsfw" tag.
1 up, 6y
I'm a bit skeptical of that. I'm quite certain that the political memes aren't getting as much upvotes because:
A) some people are too lazy to look at the "politics" stream, and/or
B) the masses of IMGflip are now looking to avoid politics

However, I will publish an unironic political meme tomorrow, and see how this plays out. I'll try to lean right on this one..

There's less than 40 of us and they've separated us from the population. Im not sure how deep in the rabbit hole you are but this is serious. Midterms are less than a month away and the imgflip owners are doing their part to silence the conservatives on here.

Make memes in protest. We have to get the "all memes" option as the default.

Well, I used to get anywhere from 100-250 upvotes on my political memes. I know there were a lot of users who liked them. They also drew a lot of trolls and haters. lol

Many of the trolls belong to imgflip. They wanted to chase us away. I've seen the confessions comparing themselves to the guy who owned Reddit doing the same thing. This website is owned by liberals in California. You can guess how much it pisses them of that a bunch of conservatives have dominated the political discussions.

They are censoring us. Time to fight back. Meme attack!

Thanks for your input. The mods are watching.

I've already had a few libtrolls telling me if I don't like the new system I should just leave. This is an attempt to silence conservative memers. We have to protest.
