As does the "church" of Scientology...
From a consumer's perspective, the difference is: after you're done paying Nike, at least you have a pair of shoes to show for it.

It's not even the 'Aliens' part of their faith that set off my BS Detector in regards to Scientology... (more things in heaven and earth Horatio, and all that)

It's the fact that their Founder was a Science Fiction writer who expressly stated he 'could' create a Religion...
- AND the Religion he created IS Alien-heavy
