How ironic that you would demonize oil companies with a name like "MonsterTrucker." That would be like me demonizing dunlop (I use their picks exclusively) or Ernie Ball (Cobalt 10/46, again, exclusively).

But I do agree with you about stone and concrete being more durable.

Just a couple of words I threw together. What did you put those strings on?

I put them on all of my guitars. Before I got my endorsement with Ernie Ball I played them and really liked them because sweat doesn't make them rust and they have a hotter magnetic response due to the cobalt. My guitar tech keeps a bunch of them on hand.

And yes, the Romans don't get a lot of the credit that they deserve.

I played D'addario XL for years. Since I was a kid, actually. Way back when they came with a sticker with cows wearing headphones, and that's been a minute. But once I started playing actual shows I realized that nickel strings just don't hold up, and I sweat a lot. Now that I am where I am I want things to last awhile and I don't enjoy changing strings. I've done it during a song and it truly does suck. So with these I don't have to worry about changing them before every show and they're pretty tough. It's rare for me to break an E string now.

And no, I'm not being paid to say that. I'm not Slash ;)

I have XLs on my LP right now and they've been holding up for quite a while, but I'm a newb and don't work them that hard, I guess. They definitely aren't on professional duty.

Right, and that's fine. It's whatever you like. I found that I do like a heavier string though, and I work mine pretty hard. So my buddy at a music store just gave me a set to see if I liked them and after about 20 or so shows it was a no-brainer for me. They have been on all of my guitars ever since. Some of them still have that original set on them, like my Charvel. And I've worked that one really hard. The bends take a little more muscle but it's a beefier sound.

Les Paul, huh? Very good taste. I have a couple of those in my arsenal.
