Captain Picard Facepalm Meme | WHEN SOMEBODY ONLINE TRIES TELLING PEOPLE THEIR OPINION IS THE TRUTH | image tagged in memes, captain picard facepalm | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I see a bunch of opinions without any facts to make me believe them to be true. I agree with some of them and some I don't. That isn't the point however, you can't say something is true simply because your perspective makes YOU believe it is.

Having people agree with your opinion does not make it true. Anybody that believes something to be true without any proof is naive and gullible. The world is filled with people trying to force their opinions on others because they are unable to view things beyond their own limited knowledge and experience. That's why the majority of racists rarely know anybody of another race. Why the majority of homophobes have usually never spent any time around gay people. Why people against abortion have never been impregnated by a rapist.

All they know is that they have different opinions and views on the world than theirs. Instead of opening their minds and their hearts to another opinion they make war on them. They close their minds to any new information no matter how factual. If you don't agree with them you are wrong is the lie they convince themselves is true. Unfortunately believing something to be true does not make it so. If you are wrong you are wrong no matter how many people tell you that you are right.

I don't care what your opinion is. You are entitled to it even if there are facts that prove it isn't true. What I care about is people trying to make others believe what they do without any facts to back it up. That simply spreads ignorance to the ignorant and tarnish's the things in this world that are actually true.

I am more than willing to change any opinion I have if somebody proves to me it is the wrong one. The thing is, when you know something is honestly the truth, you don't feel the need to have to convince everybody of it. You only post something like this because that little voice in the back of your head keeps wondering why you believe so many things without any proof or facts to base it on. You are hoping that enough people will agree with you to quiet that voice. Maybe you should listen to it instead.....

I didn't say there weren't some I agreed with. I simply have an issue with anybody trying to tell people something is true when they can't possibly know for sure it is. A few truths in a bunch of lies doesn't make the lies any more believable to me.

Respect bro ;)

Because there's a thing called evidence and those who despise Trump have none. If there were truly hacking and "collusion" going on, they would have found it by now.

And if the Russians were hacking and colluding in favor of a candidate, it would be Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump. They can't stand Donald Trump and he doesn't help them in any way politically.

I more or less agree with the first part of what you said. The investigation into Russian collusion doesn't seem to have turned up anything against Trump. I don't think they actively tried to help Hillary win, as much as stir up general crap to mess with the process.

I would disagree that Russians had no motive to help Trump win. He is a wealthy businessman. If he became president, that would clearly open the door to political and financial quid pro quo on both sides. Again, I'm not saying they did help him win. But money would be a clear motive if they did.

It saddens me so few no anything about trump on either side. he has dealt with the russians since his last major bankruptcy, russian gangsters rent floors in his buildings and have for years. check out the tenants at 666 in manhattan. he owes them (and other foreign entities) . they wanted him in office because the cold war never really ended and trump is an incompetent moron with blackmailable offenses and that works for them. this will not likely end well for anyone I am afraid.

His own son said that Russian banks are just about the only ones who will still give them money, and Trump Moscow has already been in the works.

Best case scenario for their version is that even if Duh Donald wasn't being blackmailed for his classy daliances with Russian hookers (perhaps they just Netflix binged Harry Potter movies while crocheting together), he's still beholden to them simply for being funded.

I think the entire thing is a scam personally. Keep everybody talking about Russia messing with our election, as a way of pretending they matter at all and aren't faker than pro wrestling.

I stopped caring after Bush was made president by a court and not by the people at all. The only thing that changes with a new president is which companies make more money for 4 years. That's why the Republicans didn't want Trump in office. He isn't loyal to their lobbyists he is his own lobbyist. Both parties get tons of money from companies to get them elected. Whoever wins is then expected to pay back that money with laws that help those companies make even more money.

The only thing I liked about Trump is that he didn't need their money. Unfortunately he's an egotistical lunatic that has his own debts to repay.

What disgusts me about politics is that lobbyists and how they do business is common knowledge. They've rigged the system so that winning without their money is nearly impossible. Which makes electing a president that doesn't owe somebody impossible as well. None of those evil bastards is going to vote to get rid of a system that makes them all filthy rich.

Meanwhile the American people are busy squabbling over issues that have no resolution. When the only issue all of us should be trying to resolve is how to fire all of them at once and start from scratch. That will never happen as long as we are divided by our differences, instead of being united by what makes us the same.

Okay, maybe I'm not 100% sure, but what kind of person comes up with a story like that? It would have to be someone who can't accept the f**king results for what they are. Otherwise, if they really knew that Russia hacked the election, they'd make an effort to expose them with proof. Dumb people will do some stupid shit to get some attention or make it feel like they're right.
reply

If Russia interfered in the election, that only means that the lobbyists couldn't interfere as much as they normally do. Everybody is so worried about what Russia might have done. When our elections have been manipulated for many years by companies with an agenda as bad for us as anything the Russians could try to do.

We had a president lie to all of us about needing to invade a country. We invaded that country and bought all our weapons and gear from his Vice Presidents company. Sure he wasn't part of that company on paper anymore, will never convince me he didn't profit from it. Then we all found out that the reason we sent our soldiers to risk their lives was a lie. What did we do, whine and bicker about it for a while then not a damn thing.

Companies like that one run this world not the governments of countries. They have their own mercenary armies and the power to make an entire country go to war in order to increase their profits. They are the real terrorists, they tell us what to be scared of and who we should blame for being scared. It's the largest misdirect in the history of our world and people lap it up every day like gravy on a biscuit.

Our country isn't at war with the middle east, we lost our country to corporations long ago. Corporations are at war with the middle east and we pay for it with the lives of our soldiers and the taxes that are supposed to go to things like the education of our children.

Sorry if I don't give a shit about Russia and the election. I'm too busy wishing everybody would ignore the bullshit and realize who the real enemy is...

You now have to accept new TOS guidelines on every online site because of Facebook's admitted part in all this. We have to agree to something just to download pics for memeing.

Russian meddling is not a question, it's a given. The only question is the to what extent, and if Trump is truly so incredibly stupid that he was completely oblivious to his handlers, representatives, and own immediate family partnering with Russian elements in this election and in private business arrangements, the latter of which they've even done from inside the WH itself, itself another violation of ethics and law.

The whole thing is so insanely ridiculous, it plays like a reboot of Idiocracy in front of a live audience.

It's a mixture of both and that's the truth. You can't prove some of the things on that list it's not possible. I'd like to see you prove homosexuality is a choice. That means you are able to see inside a persons heart and read their mind. Know exactly how they feel and why they feel that way. If one day that somehow becomes possible it won't be the end of gay people. It would be the end of religion...

I try and base my opinions on knowledge and experiences I've obtained in my life. The important part I believe is remaining open to learning new things and having new experiences.

I don't fear people of other races because I grew up in the melting pot of the bay area and know for a fact that people are not defined by the color of their skin. Judging a person on anything other than their actions is ridiculous.

One of my very best friends on the planet is gay. I've known him over 20 years and he only came out to me about a year ago. I was pretty sure he was anyway but to him admitting it out loud was a huge deal. His parents are extremely religious and I live in the bible belt now. The way he was raised literally made him not like himself for the way he feels about other men.
I know for a fact there is no "choice" involved because if he could choose he would pick straight. I could see the fear in his eyes when he told me like I was going to let it destroy all those years of friendship. I just looked at him and said, "all I see is my friend sitting here that's the same person he was 5 minutes ago." All anybody wants is to be accepted for who they are. I choose not to except people that judge others without knowing them. Since the main reason they judge others that way is so they can be accepted and not judged by whatever group of people they let do their thinking for them...

He's always been a good friend to me, when I moved out here his brother was the first friend I made and longest I have ever had now. I will never understand anybody that could let something like who that person falls in love with matter more than the type of person they are.

I find it sadly amusing that people like to pretend anybody has a choice about who they love. I know I personally have loved women that were absolutely no good for me and I had no reason to love them that made sense to anybody but me. Nobody truly gets to choose who they love, and when in love nobody can change your mind for you. It blows me away that people can say any type of love is a choice, you love who you love and it's that simple. So why can people only be ok with it if they agree with who you love?

People fake being in love for money and power. They manipulate people that love them for their own gains. So to me any form of true love, no matter who it is between, should be something to celebrate in this world full of untruth's.

I'm not a liberal or a conservative, I'm an individual capable of deciding how I feel about each issue on my own. If this was a liberal meme claiming it's opinions were all true I would have the same problem with that as well. It wouldn't be the same issues that I disagree on, yet I would definitely disagree with some of them.

Nice meme though! Guess it's a lot easier to call me a liberal and tell me to shut up than make any type of valid point. Don't listen to this guy he is just a liberal and only disagrees with me for that reason.

I love how you are offended that this offensive meme is viewed as such. The irony of which is more than amusing to me. If you really don't want to offend people you might pay more attention to what you post.

Men don't have time? I write for a living kid, this is nothing. Why do you have to lump me into one of your groups? Do you truly believe a person has to be one or the other?

There is this little thing called independent thought. Where you don't allow what you believe is true to be based on what other people want you to think. I hunt and have lots of guns and am a firm supporter of my right to do so. That's not a conservative view that's my view. Do conservatives agree with me, sure, they do not and never will get to influence how I form my opinions. Same thing with liberals, we may agree on a couple things but I won't them influence my opinions either.

There is a lot more to life and the people in it than conservative or liberal. When you get older and experience more of the world than what your parents allow you to. You will figure this stuff out for yourself I hope.

Go forth and find yourself an opinion on something all your own. Go to another country where there aren't any conservatives or liberals and talk to people that have never been influenced by all that garbage. Learn to judge people based on who they are instead of throwing labels on them and thinking that makes you know who they are. You don't, you have no idea. I honestly hope your find some knowledge of self and grow into a person not a sheep...

You used a lot of word to not disprove anything you say you disagree with, you are taking the same position as Solarian: what I believe to be true is true and I don't have to back it up.

All you did was use a lot of words to confuse and sway the non critical thinker, and you used generalization and appeal to emotion without a single fact to support your opinion:

"That's why the majority of racists rarely know anybody of another race. Why the majority of homophobes have usually never spent any time around gay people. Why people against abortion have never been impregnated by a rapist."

Just because you put your opinion in list form doesn't make it true, nor is it true because you put a lot of words with it.

It is true that there are many people (not all) who are racist who have never gotten to know anyone of a different race, and it is true that many (not all) anti-LGBT people have never gotten to know any LGBT people.

If he said that applies to all racist or anti-LGBT people, he would be wrong. But it is true that many are that way.

When you narrow down the group in question to a single organization the use of determiners like "most" or "many" are not illogical. Especially when that specific organization or group has made their beliefs and agenda well known. So that is a category error.

The descriptors "racists" and "anti-LGBT" do not name a single organization and they cover a wide variety of different types of people and groups. Then in today's climate we have to define our terms to clearly understand what we are talking about.

Nope, I used a lot of words, a lot of word would be the same word repeated a lot of times I do believe. I wish you had used more words, maybe I could understand your point a little better if you had explained things more thoroughly.

Interesting how you think I need facts to back up my opinion that some of the things on that list can't be proven to be true. Some issues can't be proven either way, my argument is with somebody saying their side of those issues is the truth. Please do point out to me where it is I wrote that everything I said is the truth. I simply provided examples of things I have noticed throughout my lifetime, not once did I say this is the truth of the matter. These are complicated issues that people will fight about forever because neither side can prove their opinion is the truth.

I wrote that I am perfectly willing to change my opinion if presented with facts that make it obvious I am wrong. I have yet to see that. Where are you proving anything to anybody besides the fact you don't like what I wrote. You know a lot of racists that have friends or spent a decent amount of time around people of another race? You know a lot of homophobes that have friends or spent a decent amount of time around LGBT people? You know some women who were **ped and wanted a baby that would be a lifetime reminder of it? It happened to a friend of mine, while I could never personally agree to an abortion of any child I created. I was very glad she was able to have an abortion and that the right to do so should be up to her alone.

You've accused me of doing a lot of things based on your own assumptions as to why I wrote what I did with as many words as I did. You also have no facts to back anything up, only what you are saying is about myself not the issues. You apparently know more about what and why I write things than I do, that's pretty damn amazing!

I use a lot of words because I have a lot of thoughts. I think a lot of thoughts because there are many things to contemplate and perspectives to explore. I've always done this and always will. I'm not afraid to express myself and have people like you criticize me for it. I just wish that when people choose to criticize me they at least spend the time to make it somewhat challenging for me to respond to it....

Here you are telling me not to insult him, when his meme has parts that are opinions based on hate. There is nothing funny about this meme, please inform me of the joke I am missing?

This is the internet, if you post something on a public site that is an opinion piece, you damn well better expect to hear the other side. You say people can have opinions, just not me? You said he isn't trying to get people to change to his opinion, except for the fact that he is calling it the truth?

I did your buddy a favor, now he should at least be aware that if he is going to post stuff like this online. He better do his homework first and expect this type of response. If you guys are not capable of that, you may consider not posting things you found online and don't have the life experience to fully comprehend.

To be clear I don't care who posted this. They didn't think this stuff up themselves, they simply captioned a list they found that they have been told is the truth. Seeing something like this portrayed as truth and not correcting it is much worse than saying nothing. If you don't believe that the truth is something worth fighting over then your truth must not be as strong as you thought it was.

I tried to delete my account not that long ago. One of my best friends on here had left and I was tired of watching that happen. Thing is, this site will not let me delete my account, it means more to them than it does to me apparently. I wouldn't now because some users recently have made this place more enjoyable for me. Plus you told me to, and I'd be damned if I let some kid with horrible grammar convince me to do anything.

If you want people of intelligence to listen to what you have to say, it helps to know exactly what that is and how to get your point across effectively. Grow up a bit, read a lot of books, move out of your parents house and experience different people and places for yourself. Then come back and we will have this conversation if you still wish to. I don't like feeling as if I am pitching fast balls at a kid who is holding a wiffle ball bat...

the "point" of this thread (made by Solarian) was that science "proves" heterosexuality. I simply pointed out that that same science also "proves" homosexuality is common in nature, amongst all animals.

Your ridiculously inane post was an example of 'reductio ad absurdum' at its most absurd. As for your latest, "the animals to which [I] refer"...are "humans"

So, do you have an actual point to make, or are you just posting random words you found in a dictionary and hoping they make sense?

Science does prove homosexuality in nature but it was only a few animals that did it by love like the Lovebirds. An albatross couple can be lesbian but one of the females must be impregnated by another male to carry on the couple's love in other words love by protecting their egg with the other female except the male. Monkeys show homosexuality like dogs, cats, and other mammals by masturbating, in other words, mate into another male as masturbation and dominance.

That only applies if the original comment states that. But as he stated, original comment only stated "homosexuality is a choice" it never stipulated being straight is a choice. Ergo he is trying to imply an irony which does not exist.

If they acknowledge that gay people are born gay, then that makes sexual orientation an immutable characteristic like skin color, which makes it harder to defend discriminating against them. If they can convince themselves and others that it's just a choice, then they feel more justified in discriminating against LGBT people.

The fact that so many LGBT people could tell from their earliest years what they are tells me that it is incredibly likely they were born that way. Can I prove it? I suppose I can't. But I believe the evidence points to that being the most likely conclusion. More research needs to be done, of course.
4 ups, 12m
A lot of it has to do with the social winds. There's more chance a child born into a gay home would end up making the same choice. Or it also can be influenced by who they hang out with.

1 up, 12m
I never claimed there was a "straight gene." That whole argument about there not being a straight gene so that means you're born gay is ignorance. It doesn't prove anything. Everyone is born for reproduction, whether you believe the Bible or you just believe in nature. Two men and two women cannot reproduce.

The choice comes later in life, whether you're still a child or an adult. A man wants to be with another man and so he comes out gay or perhaps bisexual.

The human race: it is our extended family. Look to each other and see your brothers and sisters. Please, just stop searching for faults in everything, instead, find the positive and focus on that. You will be happier, trust me. And people will love you for it, and you will get it back. You get what you give.

Don’t we all come here to imgflip to share some laughs and take a break from it all? To enjoy a little escape from reality, even? Maybe even make a friend or two along the way?

It pains me to see so much hate in the world, so many so quick to point a finger. Can we just take a deep breath and count to 10? Then think about how you want to respond, not react. And before you do respond, put yourself in THEIR shoes. There are two sides to every story. You cannot know, you cannot know, YOU CANNOT KNOW what it’s like to live a day in their life. And even if you think you do, you still don’t, because deep down you know it’s their life, not yours, that you are trying to understand.

Which is harder: to knock somebody down, or to extend a hand and pull them up?
Stop and think about that, because I guaran-ass-tee you, the day will come when YOU will be looking for somebody, hoping, praying, BEGGING for somebody to extend a hand to YOU.

God bless, God speed, and my very best to you and yours. All of ya, ya crazy Memers <3

Islam is a political ideology disguised as a religion. Political correctness is a hidden for of fascism. Homophobia is not a thing. White privilege does not exist, I haven't made over $35k my entire life. Male privilege does not exist, see above. Race IS in fact a social construct all because of one man's idea of breaking the differences down into "race classes". So, it is very much a social construct. Saying race is not a social construct contradicts your next idea that non-white people can be racist. There is only one race, the human race. Period.

Other than that, nice job.

No. Islam is a religion, just not yours. In fact, that's what political ideologies are, adherents squabbling with what? religious fervor over issues most haven't the faintest idea of their own about, just reading from a script handed to them by their Lords & Saviors.

Race, solely based on physical qualities determined by genetics evolved to adapt to local conditions over time, is NOT a social construct, although how various races are treated is. Ask the mirror and the 'they' that you run from.

Homophibia is a euphemism used to describe the illogical hyper hatred those with doubts over their own sexual orientation hurl at those more open or obvious about theirs which differ the culturally accepted 'norm'

Male priviledge does not exist when properly kicked in the balls.
At this very moment, passage of the ERA is being debated over FOUR DECADES after it debuted. It begs to differ about your 'non priviledge' that you wouldn't trade for theirs.

He means that if someone doesn't support same-sex marriage, it doesn't mean that they have a fear of homosexuality.

Homophobia isn't nessesarily a fear of the big gay as it is most often used, like how feminism is defined as equality when it's used as cancer and misandry most commonly. Homophobia as it is used means literally not supporting homosexuality.

"Islam is not a peaceful religion"
Ya wanna tell me what Christianity was doing around 12-1400 CE? Because that's where Islam is right now. The only reason it's any worse is because of modern technology. Heck, most of the things on here are opinions!

You mean c1600+?
You know where Christianity was? SAME PLACE Islam was, neck in neck, toe to toe. Difference is, one evlolved, the other cannot.

I wouldn't say Christianity evolved. I would say secular values of the Enlightenment gained a strong influence. Many years later, Christianity tried to retroactively take credit for secular-driven social progress like women's suffrage and racial equality, things which many Christians fought bitterly against (and yes, there were Christians who fought in support of those things, too, I don't deny that).
reply
1 up, 12m
Not that Christianity sired all that, but despite restrictions and even the sickest of harsh punishments, fact is such happened nevertheless under Christianity. During the Middle Ages the Church was the only source of education, the sponsor of art, sciences, technological innovation, etc. Granted it was to serve the Church, but it was there. To think at one point writing itself almost died out in Europe save for Irish Monks.
THE reason Canada and Mexico lag behind the USA despite sharing (albeit to different degrees) the same resources is rooted in Protestantism, the Protestant work ethic, and the concept of Manifest Destiny notion it sired. Sure, lots of negative stuff tucked in that road, but the end result is out the window, feeding and sheltering billions of humans most of which just decades ago lived in abject poverty and the direst conditions as they always have and would have if not for us.

The Torah & Bible are open to interpretation, thus lending them flexibilty, allowing for evolution and progress of ideas among adherents. The Koran, on the other hand, is just a lecture. No once-upon-a-time-this-shepard parables, just a series of strict rules as dictated by one single man. So from the get go, it was ossified. And thus, it still is. To say they are at the same stage Christianity was millenia ago is patronizing, and merely points to their deliberate backwardness, not excuses it.

This IS 2018 on planet earth. We paved roads for them, built them hospitals, schools, gave them tv, pcs, and MP3s. The ignorant barbarian wandering desert dunes unable to adapt is a racist caricature. They dress in our clothes, eat our McD's, watch our movies, listen to Justin Bieber, even do B-Boy music ala Allah. They ARE part of the modern world already, and it was handed to them gift wrapped, no sweat required. It's time for them to take it upon themselves to grow up instead of retreating to an imagined past shackled by barabaric rules. From the Amazon to Zimbabwe, with Nanavut to Tula to Palau to the Seychelles in between, non one else is having this arrested development mental damage proclivity to destroy (in some circles) issue Moslems have. No one.

Yes it is. What else could it be other than a mental illness or a choice?
reply

It is a choice. It's another one of mankind's attempts to defy nature and then blame it on nature. Lets face it, us humans don't exactly have the best track record for taking responsibility for our actions. History is just riddled with people trying to shift blame from one person/object/idea/group to the other.

You're confusing "normal" with "mental illness". Those aren't the only two options.

Hell, as Jying pointed out, your list is a mixture of facts and opinions. You can't even tell those apart.

a big thing thats happening and will change our country soon is really the next generation, i mean look around at them doing stupid youtube and snapchat trends and getting themselves killed because they cant think for them selves. (haters gonna respond here) and vapes especially is getting super popular and pretty much everywhere you go around here youll see little kids (younger than 18) smoking vapes being "cool" because its what "cool" people do and its a trend...much like homosexuality, they see it as just s trend to follow in without using theyre own thinking and i think after the next 10 years are gonna be pretty bad. the people are getting into this mind set of just wanting to follow in the ways of things that arent normal, basically getting prepared for when the anti christ comes and reigns over earth. i would the words mental illness to describe these people, not because they are retarded but because they are making choices and calling things "right" that generations ago knew was totally wrong and immoral and improper ways of living

1. If homosexuality is a "trend", it's one of the most popular trends in human history, having been around for...the entirety of human history.

2. "Antichrist"? Haha! :) okay, if you say so. Oh, by the way, isn't the Antichrist supposed to do stuff in the Jewish temple? You know, the one that doesn't exist, and hasn't existed since 70 CE? People who came before you were wrong about the return of Jesus and the end of the world, and you will be shown wrong as they were

3. So if past generations said that something was wrong, it was? Hmmm...past generations said that treating black people as equal to white people was wrong. So is that wrong? Past generations said that women shouldn't be allowed to vote or even work outside the home. Is that wrong? Past generations said that once two people get married, the wife is giving perpetual consent, so the very idea of spousal **pe was unknown to them. A man literally could **pe his wife and there was no punishment. Past generations said that slavery was OK. Is that right? Past generations said that the Earth is flat. Is that right?

I am not sure which is worse:
the lack of Christ in these posts/explanations/opinions
or
the fact that some people today still believe that the Earth is flat
