Soon English will be just like Latin.. a dead language. In 50 years everybody will just emoji at each other and hit like or dislike in response lol. Damn I meant that as a joke... now that I think about it though...

When I was a kid using AOL Instant Messenger, I loved emojis, and often used them for conversation with my friends (they were called smileys back in the 2000's). Now, I think emojis are a oversimplified placeholder for "I'm excited" or "I'm angry". Because it's much easier to use emojis than to describe your feelings in words.

People give me crap all the time because I can type really fast and drop a couple paragraphs in comments. It seems like having to read anything longer than a text has now become a chore and is actually frowned upon. But hey I still read real books and refuse to have a cell phone because you don't notice how much people look like zombies walking around staring at their screens, until you stop doing it yourself and look around that is.

I go out to eat and see families sitting at the same table completely ignoring each other. The world in front of my face is the one I want to focus on unless I am sitting at this computer which I do too much of. I work online when I'm not cheating and checking imgflip lol. I'm not saying everybody should go to my extreme of thinking. I just feel like we are losing the ability as a society to communicate face to face with each other. If that system comes crashing down someday we will have a generation of young people who can't figure something out without google.

I'll shut up though, enough crazy hillbilly that lives in the woods talk for one night my friend lol.

Smartphones give us more of that instant gratification that our brains constantly want than having a conversation. It's a double edged sword for socially anxious people, because they need the practice to gain more confidence. Which brings me to my question, what is this technological revolution of online communication preparing us for in future generations? Robots that can auto-think everything we think in our heads and generate recommendations faster than we can?

Everybody is going to end up with chips in their heads. Working in virtual reality as their fat lumps of bodies slowly decay into their couches. Their physical needs met by things like the robots in the Matrix. Only thing that movie got wrong is that mankind slowly went there willingly. Marching towards their own demise with a bacon cheeseburger in their mouths while staring at a Tweet from the President who will become a computer program with an A.I. with a maximum full of bullshit optimized operating system.

We have no idea who is running this country and especially not who is running others. Our politicians are actors who falsely portray what people who believe one side of the story or the other want to hear. After telling them what they want to hear they repeat it very well. Meanwhile corporations military or otherwise control things from behind the scenes completely unnoticed behind the smoke screen

If our country is too busy arguing with each other over things like, "Democrat or Republican" "Christian or Muslim" "White or Not White" then all our thoughts will be on those fears and not thinking about what is really scary out there.

They broke the threshold for addiction by a computer screen back in the 80's. It causes more traffic accidents since Marijuana ever has in the history of driving. The billboards say don't text and drive.. not... put your phone down every now and then so you are used to not having it when you drive. They want us plugged in 24/7, able to track our location with our permission. Not having to look for information on us because we already willing post everything we do every day online and hope people see it.

They don't have to take away our guns to enslave us. They just have to give us a shiny object that makes us not care about fighting for anything unless it's to get in line to buy the newest update of the human races new operating system.

I can't believe the the words, even on the internet, that are so readily accepted as part of the English language. Like ur. What the f@ck happened to the y and the o? Or bae. Who invented this stupid word. And there's so much other crap. I know we've all seen it. Talk about college, the GPA to get into so many fields now a days have been lowered so far, I could pass these courses after drinking a quart of whiskey and smoking an ounce every night.

The human attention span has gotten lower than a goldfish in recent years, so people are way too impatient to even complete a thought because of the amount of stimulation they have in their brains.

And about college, Are you sure that the GPA requirements for some fields are lower? I think it is much harder to get into college than it ever has before, especially for Engineering and Biomedical Sciences. The average GPA for applicants at UCLA is a weighted 4.25 GPA with over 100,000 freshman applicants, and even if you have gotten 5's on all your AP exams and have excellent extracurriculars, it's likely you will be denied admission. I may be wrong though because I'm assuming your talking about undergraduate admissions, but it seems like you're talking about graduate school.

However, I do agree that some courses have gotten much easier. The politicians want to talk about how well schools do based on the amount of A's, and since that's hard to do, they just make the standards to pass much more lenient. Also, teachers have to cut back on homework assigned to students since so many aren't doing it.

Strange because it's ?not Bach, it's Samuel Johnson (which makes more sense in this meme).

You are right. It’s mislabeled. Very revealing. Bach’s image would be more iconic.
