I too would like the bar back. That would be a good petition

Unfortunately, I don't think it would ever come back. Too many users want the downvote button to disappear, nevermind the downvote bar.
I really missed that thing when they took it away. I liked seeing my memes have both upvotes and downvotes. I had a meme one time have over 100 upvotes and no downvotes.
That was before my time it sounds pretty cool.
I don't really care about upvotes or downvoted, but I tho k it be funny to see how many people downvote my trump and Muslim memes.

Yeah, it was cool because it told you how many didn't like it. I would think, well I guess that joke failed. As it is now, you see the views and upvotes and all we can tell is that 50 people viewed the meme but only 2people upvoted it. We can't tell if there are any downvotes. They did away with it because they were trying to curb the trolling, but it only made it worse.
Would it not make more sense to replace the balancing points with a bar anyway? then people wouldn't get trolled into submission AND we could get a more accurate idea of how many people reacted to the meme.
Wouldn’t seeing a lot of downvotes lead to mob mentality? Just downvoting because a lot of others did? Or could only the poster see it?

There were a lot of front page memes that would over 100 upvotes and generally had an average of about 10-15 downvotes. It was really only the political memes and religious memes that would have like 60 upvotes and 30 plus downvotes.
Sign me up! I am all for having the downvote counter! What is the point of having a vote count at all if you can't see both sides of it? They got rid of the down the counter right before I joined the site. Having an upvote counter, but no downvote counter is basically giving a participation medal and ice cream for every meme.
I don't care about people down voting my memes and comments except for the fact that a handful of users have numerous alt accounts and systematically downvote mine and other's memes back into submission almost as soon as they feature before others even have a chance to upvote them. And even if they don't go back into submission, a few downvotes will kill the momentum of a meme and send it quickly to the abyss of page 999. Same thing with comments, I could care less if someone doesn't like my comment and downvotes it. But someone is following my comments and constantly down voting them down to low rated so that they don't even show. This even happens on very positive responses to my friends ON MY OWN MEMES. This is why so many users have left recently. It has to stop.

I agree. When the ads started on this site, a lot more traffic came as well. And with the good, the bad also came. I haven't really had much of a problem with my memes and comments being downvoted back to submission, but I understand the frustration. I just know that getting rid of the downvote option isn't going to curb the trolls. It might at first, but it won't permanently stop them.
Nothing will permanently stop them. But it will take away their power to have any actual negative impact on others. They can make rude comments and spam, so what? That actually gives points to the person they are commenting to and helps the meme climb by having more activity. But the downvoting has a serious negative impact and gives trolls with multiple accounts way more power than legit users. And I'd argue that without down voting and being able to hurt other's points and traction, most trolls will lose interest.
If you like a meme, you give it 3 or 4 stars. If you *really* like it, you give it 5 stars. If you hate it, you give it one star, or just ignore it entirely (no stars).
Then your meme will show an average ___ of of 5 stars, and you can gauge how people responded to it without negative responses screwing you over.
When exactly did the upvote/downvote bar leave us? It was there when I joined imgflip but I stopped using it for a while and when I came back it wasn't there anymore.
Translation: ONCE again we use this site to make some dumb remarks about what should or shouldn't happen. Now, personally having the right to upvote/downvote is perfectly ok by me. It just means you can improve on stuff that'll be fantastic. This is just my silly personal opinion and you shouldn't take it seriously unless you want to.
