2. 21 senators in the south were democrats. After the civil rights act how many turned republican? 1.
The reason republicans started winning down south was because industry moved down south.
It was young, fringe members of the republican party who switched to the republican party, not old democrats, who are still old democrats today.
And by the way in 1980 jimmy carter launched his campaign at the same headquarters of the kkk. So to pretend only republicans can be racist and evil is just a lie.
