I got a good public service announcement meme tomorrow with a temporary plan to curb the downvotes/flags until hopefully something more permanent can be put in place. Also setting up a meme where anyone I like who gets their comment reputation ruined can ask for my help to get back their reputation.

I guarantee you, it's not a long-term solution. It's basically a peace treaty that I'm going to try and get everyone to sign. It all depends on memers putting aside their differences and coming together to put an end to this.

I like that idea. I'm sick of being targeted by downvote attacks. I doubt whoever's doing it will stop though. Pretty sure one of the people doing it is this ironwynch who's on this meme now. Big surprise.

There's a difference between downvoting memes or comments you dislike and teaming up with tets to go on someone's imgflip profile to harass them with downvotes so they cannot participate.

Not big time. Downvotes in my comments in this thread are to be expected. That's just one downvote. Usually it won't show that, but there's a glitch that sometimes shows it. My comments are still coming through.

On another note, I usually love your memes, but now I avoid commenting on them. You seem to be rather easy to rub the wrong way.

I can understand political comments being downvoted, but all of my non-political comments are being downvoted all around the site.

I upvote memes based solely on whether or not they're funny, clever, or pithy. Whether it's political or not, and whether it has a left/right bias shouldn't enter into it. I rarely downvote anything unless it's especially bad.

Some years ago, I was a right-wing political ideologue on a number of message boards and I determined that I was NOT going to let myself get political on IMGFLIP. It hasn't been easy, and I've fallen off the wagon a couple of times.

The thing that makes this place great, is that "funny" rules the day (or at least it's *supposed* to). Sure, there's plenty of 'stupid' out there, too (Hillary is an ugly witch - HERP, Trump is mean and has orange hair - DERP). But the upvote/downvote system should be based on whether something is funny or clever (preferably both), and not whether or not you agree with the sentiment.

Unfortunately the people with the glass feelings (on both sides) are taking over this place, and if anyone has any ideas about how to put a stop to their shenanigans, I'll gladly help. I want Imgflip to stay a place where people can laugh at themselves as well as at everyone else.

How do you know which comments are being downvotes? The only time I was even aware of downvotes was that one week when I could only comment every two hours due to "poor comment reputation"

Well like with my comments, like I have a Bender meme comment on OlympianProduct's meme with 9 upvotes and it's below a comment with only 7. So that means either 2 or 3 people downvoted it. All of my comments are like that, even my non-political ones. And I've been getting a comment timer and unable to use meme comments lately.

When a reply to one of my comments gets more votes than my comment, I usually assume it was funnier than my comment, so that I didn't get an upvote (but not necessarily a downvote) but the reply did. I don't really take note of the comment timer unless it's more than three minutes.

Well a reply wouldn't affect the positioning. It's first comments only. The original comments (those without a color bar) will be higher than others will less, unless they're downvoted.

Now that's just not fair at all.

And that certain someone put me through two stints in 'improve your commentary'. Likely your guy too, huh? I now have good people to upvote me back, and I won't be self-censoring regardless; I don't do free speech suppression well. Anyway I have his name in to the mods and if he does something again I'm gonna %#@*! him over.
