If a person on the right misspeaks and, having misspoken, acknowledges the mistake or at least corrects themselves, then it would be a case of misspeaking and not a double standard.
"But Skipp, what about Trump and that Egyptair flight! The way the media hounded him proves there's a double standard!" The difference here is that officials from the US, Europe, and Egypt were all very careful to say they did not know the cause of the crash. Donald Trump decided he knew it was terrorism and called anyone who said otherwise foolish, statements which he later reiterated, which tells us he did not misspeak. Later, evidence from the wreckage indicated the aircraft broke up after an on-board fire most likely related to a mechanical malfunction. The fact that no terrorist group has claimed credit for the downing further reinforces the hypothesis that terrorism is not to blame. Trump has, so far, not withdrawn his statements about the cause of the crash.
