I honestly think the ability to block people would virtually eliminate issues with trolls too.

True, but it wouldn't be that hard to re-block them. Just re-add their new user to your block list. Then they have to make a new email to make a new account etc.. Not rly worth it for them IMHO.

It could work. Its sad that some folks have nothing better to do than harass others. They are like the gnats here in Alabama, they are really harmless, always in your face when you're trying to do something, and can't be found when you try to hunt them down, and kill them..I've had a few a couple of times, but I just ignore them, and if they keep it up I report them :)

I like this idea, simply block someone so YOU personally don't have to see them.

Like, when you downvote it should ask if you want to block them, and when you choose yes their comments and memes will just be blank to you or something, and maybe their name will be red, and if you go to their page you can unblock them.

I don't know, I see a bunch of downsides to this. Generally I like the idea, but also it would make the already popular users that much more popular and the not so popular users less popular. Also, the newer users would have a tougher time gaining a foothold here.

If the trolls are really good at what they do, you wouldn't even know you're being trolled. However, none on here are that good.

But where is the fun in that? Seriously though, if the founding fathers had the ability to block people, there would be no bill of rights etc... Vigorous debate is good for society. It helps us evolve as a whole.
Currently I am "on probation" because someone flagged me as I disagreed with their meme and he called me a troll along with 3 others for saying so. Honestly I do not consider myself a troll, I may disagree with you, but I will cite sources and I have been known to come around sometimes. I have many users on here thank me for a vigorous debate, and I think that says something. I picture a troll as someone who just wants to attack you constantly, instead of discussing the topics at hand, but thats just imho.

If people can start blocking people, I think those that get butthurt easily, like the person who flagged me, sadly would abuse it and then IMGFLIP would basically become a hangout for only those who agree with you, which I think is very unamerican.

I've seen that a lot of people have had this idea one thing about it though is that while I personally like the idea and I wouldn't limit myself to it the general consensus is a very good point that there is the downside that if you focus on a few peoples memes then you don't get to see the other cool memes that other people that are not on your friends list make thus making popular users more popular but it also makes newer users get less attention

I would like to be friends with some of y'all. Some of y'all are funny and creative. As far as blocking dipshits... I wouldn't go that far. Its awesome to voice our opinions on imgflip but just as we're free to express we should be free offer criticism. With good intentions I mean. Another thing to be hateful and ignorant ala trolls. With the good comes the bad... Having a block options comes off like get outta jail card. Sometimes we gotta take a couple whacks
