So we're talking about where we hate our taxes going? Or are we talking about getting the care they need? Because these're both the same issue. I'm not a medical/mental professional, and I don't know everyone's case by case scenario. Some people need it for sure, maybe some don't. Regardless, I think people should get the medical care they need.
Many trans individuals experience distress due to gender dysphoria, a mismatch between their gender identity and physical body, and without access to gender-affirming care, this distress can become severe, contributing to mental health struggles. Barriers to accessing healthcare, including mental health support and hormone therapy, can worsen feelings of despair and hopelessness. Additionally, trans people, especially trans women of color, face disproportionately high rates of violence, harassment, and hate crimes, creating a hostile environment that further harms their mental health. Some trans individuals also internalize society’s negative attitudes toward them, leading to feelings of shame and worthlessness.
It seems that transitional surgery falls within the purview of what you're suggesting, but you, as a person, also fit within the jurisdiction of the last sentence of what I wrote - contributing to their suicide by referring to them as a mental illness.
You're part of the problem.
I think we should agree on something... Gun violence, including mass shootings and suicides by firearms, costs taxpayers far more. We spend billions each year on law enforcement, emergency services, healthcare, and mental health support to handle the aftermath of shootings, not to mention the ongoing prevention efforts. Gun-related deaths happen at a much higher rate than inmates receiving gender-affirming care, and the overall cost of gun violence is way higher. If we want to talk about taxes, addressing gun violence should be a bigger priority. To which, the GOP still haven't offered any solutions. Just "No."
