What was stolen was dignity, religious expression, freedom, economy, land, agreements, food, and humanity. The awareness should be that most native Americans are stuck to their reservations. Millions were killed in the Indian wars. America spent years since the first colony in the 1600 to try to make the savage disappear. We're talking 100s of years to get to where we are now. I actually remember a time when native Americans were found in the local bar in my very white community. Now they are gone. Alcohol was one of the greatest weapons used on the native American. It's a long conluted history full of tragic events. We gloss over it in history and don't fully spend time teaching it. We focus on slavery first. But their to native Americans were the first slaves out of America. Treated as a show and tell to England's royalty. I still think we would have a different America if the 5 civilized tribes were running the country.
