Individual taxpayers, especially those with high net worth pay taxes to the federal government which the uses that money to fund grants and programs. Many of those are to benefit the those who earn less. So you are complaining that the government taxes wealthy individuals for the benefit of those who aren’t. Actually it's only partially Federal funds, and that out of block grants that are given to individual states to administer themselves. So whatever they're taking out of Federal money is being taken out of what they get for the entire state, citizens included. They don't get extra for extra people. And as only partial, the rest is actually paid by the state itself.
