A few months back we could see a wreak on the road in front of my home, a neighbor and I responded since it typically takes 20+ minutes to see a 1st responder this far out. I had to use google translate to get a rig to block the road, he didn't speak English and we needed to block the road because there were bodies lying in the open. Before we could get there two drivers staggered out and dropped, DOA when we did reach them. The neighbor and I picked a side and started stopping traffic, severely wounded in vehicles and the last thing we wanted was more people to drive into the mess. The driver of the rig left when the first blue lights showed up but probably saved lives.
Because we are so far out wreaks are common, people try and pass going up the hill, and at least every few months someone gets killed. If I don't hear the accident the dogs let me know. The neighbor's house is across from mine up the hill, I can barely see his roof, but we have done this a few times now, never seen a single accident that wasn't caused by an idiot. Snow, fog, even ice doesn't cause as many issues as drugged up and drunk drivers.
