Yep . . . a word they left unmentioned for four years worth of hyper-inflationary Bidenomics.

Democrats' polices of taxes and regulations made the cost of living for the middle class unaffordable, so yes, affordability is a problem.

Whenever Dems get in control one of the things they do is screw up the economy and then point the finger of blame everywhere but at themselves.
5 ups, 4w
The Biden administration screwed up everything. All President Trump has to do is reverse everything he did. He doesn't need to be a genius.

Trumps tariffs are so successful, he is bailing out the farmers for a few BILLION of our tax money. BAHH BAWWW

Why do you think Trump's tariffs are not working, Stan? I'm on the fence. P. Trump is using some tariffs to bully countries into getting better trade deals. I'm OK with that. I'm not so sure about long-term tariffs. We'll see. Do you have any data, or is it just TDS?

When you say "working" - what do you mean? Working to what end? Is it bringing more money to the American government? Absolutely. Is it coming from people outside of the USA? No. I personally help collect these tariffs for my company. I assure you companies pay here and it's passed on to citizens who buy the products in the form of raised pricing.

So the money leaves the pockets of US Citizens and goes to the companies. The companies use this added revenue to pay the tariff fees for the products they bring into the country. The government gets that money. They have not been using that money to help education, healthcare, lower groceries, lower energy, lower fuel, or any other major struggle right now.

So, to me, the concept of "working" for these tariffs would be that american citizens get something for the money they are paying. So far, that doesn't seem to be the case. I don't see that happening. It's not a "claim" of mine but a denial of the claim. I don't see any of that happening. I could be wrong about that. I'm welcome to sources that show how this tariff money is ACTUALLY helping any CITIZENS but so far it looks like it's just going to very wealthy companies to me. Again, I could be wrong about that so you're welcome to show me sources of tariff money going to citizen causes and I am happy to read.

So I've given you what "working" means to me. When we talk about the idea that "the tariffs are working," what does that even mean to you?

Jon, too many words for a chat. Not sure you understand what tariffs are for. Not just to get money like a tax. They are usually used to protect domestic trade.

Sorry. I presumed you could read. I put the question as the very first and last sentence, but I can understand if that was too far for you to get so here:

When you say the "Tariffs are working" what do you mean by "working?"

Do tariffs bring jobs back to the US? Does it correct the trade imbalance? I do not know. We'll see. It will take a couple of years to confirm. There you go, only took a few well-chosen words. Communication is two-way. Less is more. Basic writing skills.

Pro tip: we've tried tariffs many times over many years. We don't need many more years to confirm something we've done for years.

There you go. Only took a few well-chosen words. Honesty is also two way. Less lies ARE more. Basic human decency.

Please give me an example.
0 ups, 3w
Smoot-Hawley is one example. Fordney-McCumber is another. They specifically tried this many times especially in times when things were tough. Tariffs ALWAYS have made things worse in those cases.

SO 11 BILLION to the farmers, because of his tariffs- and that is how you measure success? Would 12 billion be a failed policy?

"The US trade deficit fell to $59.6 billion in August, from $78.2 billion in July." https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/u-s-trade-deficit-dropped-nearly-24-in-august-as-trumps-tariffs-reduce-imports

That's a cool story but like, bouncing back from your own mistake shouldn't be confused with "epic success" of any kind

As I've said before, I am not entirely in favor of President Trump's tariffs. Time will tell. Anyway, this meme is not about President Trump's policies. It's about Democrats with the gall to use the word "affordability." Inflation, the war on energy, open migration, and other Democratic policies have made the cost of living unaffordable.

So then, tell me why you think the tariffs are "working" as you've alluded to several times.
0 ups, 3w
No. I said wait and see. Did Leftist policies "work?" You will never answer that, Jon. We all know why.
0 ups, 3w
Still not addressing the original meme. Magic word of the day is "Affordability?" How did Democrats make anything more affordable when they were in power?
0 ups, 3w
Trump campaigned on the word "Affordability."

Holding him to his own promise has nothing to do with others. Hope that helps.

You think regulations are why things aren't affordable?
1 up, 3w
Taxes, regulations, inflation, and trade policy are why things aren't affordable. It's a combination of progressive policies that President Trump is trying to reverse.

It's amazing how on top of the propaganda you've been. Like consistently, you're the 1st comment and it's always what Trump wants you to be saying.

Good meme, the left has never cared about anyone increasing their personal wealth. Demonrats demand dependency. The hard truth is they are just waiting for a chance to wreak everything President trump has built, improved or started,
1 up, 4w
Hey, it gives him something to rant about besides the Epstein files.

Also, did you know he still hasn't filed plans for what is supposed to happen with where the East Wing used to be? How many construction projects have you heard about that being with demolition and then develop a plan on what's going to be built there?

Facts: Energy is less expensive due to President Trump's policies. The border is closed. Government corruption is being pursued instead of ignored. Inflation is down. We do not yet know the impact of tariffs. So much better than Biden.
0 ups, 4w
Where is all that DOGE savings? What about all the people he fired. He promised trimming a trillion, he never even got close to that- just facts that are verified.
My energy costs havent dropped. Yes the border is closed- good job!

Look up US inflation data. The trend is clear. Also, what do you mean, "administration is extremely corrupt?" How about posting facts? Cheesy, you can't just make up crap and expect anyone to take you seriously. TDS is your disease, not mine.

The administration is full of corruption

The sent a child sex trafficker to a cushy min-sec prison after she said nice things about pedotrump

Qatar gave pedotrump a $400 million jet and he gave them political favors in return

The president is using his position to make money off cryptocurrency and other business deals

He is pardoning people after they or their family members make financial donations to him

Why are you okay with these things?
1 up, 4w,

Wow! Where were you when Joe Biden was President? Sure, Trump is a little sleezy, but Washington is full of that. Also, Inflation is factually down. You definitely have a touch of TDS. I don't have any delusions about him myself. He's certainly not perfect, but way better than Kamala.
1 up, 3w,

You asked me for evidence of corruption and I listed numerous examples and then you just change the subject to Joe Biden. Calling pedotrump a little sleazy is like calling Hitler a little bit unkind.

The jet belongs to US government. I don't know anything about the rest. I assume they are all equally weak. Anyway, this isn't about President Trump or former President Biden. It's about the new Democratic buzzword, "affordability." Democratic inflationary policy made the cost of living unaffordable, and now they are running on "affordability." Are people really that stupid? Who's goning to buy this load of crap?

Missing the point. "affordability?" Energy is less expensive. Housing will go down some if enough illegal immigrants are deported. Exposing fraud will decrease government spending. Do you agree that the cost of living should be "affordable," Cheesy? Democrats did nothing but increase it.
0 ups, 3w
1. Energy is not less expensive (see meme)

2. Housing doesn't go down based on illegal immigrants leaving because equity firms keep buying them to raise prices.

3. If exposing fraud decreased government spending then DOGE would not have cost taxpayers more than we were paying for the fraud: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/doge-cuts-cost-135-billion-analysis-elon-musk-department-of-government-efficiency/

4. Pivoting to "these guys did it worse" doesn't solve the problem at hand. It only shifts blame. It's also handedly wrong. The trajectory exploded in 2021 largely due to COVID. This trajectory was slowed over time and as of last year inflation was sub 3 as of July. Trump opened at 3 and in September had 3 (higher than it was for half a year). Then Mike Johnson refused to convene the house and there was never able to be an approved budget so there was no October report. Survey expectations for november indicate an unchanged or increased inflation trajectory as marked by CPI.

So if the cost of living should be affordable, we are heading the wrong way and blaming people in the past doesn't change the direction we are headed today. Hope that helps.
0 ups, 3w
Who's gonna buy it? Probably the same people who thought that trump would lower grocery prices on day one only to later admit he can't actually do it. Or the people who believed he would end the Ukraine war on day one but he never did that either.

This is why we need a third person to go for president. Someone from a different party
