I don't see how increasing the minimum wage is a bad thing

As Sobrmn points out, raising the minimum wage forces the employers to raise the cost of their goods or services. Prices going up will cause fewer consumers to purchase those products. Fewer consumers leads to the business needing fewer employees. Minimum wage is not designed to be a "living wage". It's in place for entry level positions and entry level positions are to get work experience, not a home.
