California doesn’t pay the government anything. The people and businesses pay federal taxes. They pay more federal taxes because they make more. Of course, they make more because the cost of living is higher. Isn’t that a democrat desire to tax the wealthy? Note that federal taxes are the same in California as in Alabama.

California not only has a budget shortfall of 12 billion it is over 250 billion in debt. Most of its local entities are also in debt. It has received federal bailouts of tax dollars that you guys always forget. It is mismanaged and in poor condition despite being the most beautiful state and having the 4th largest economy in the world.

California has the fifth largest economy in the world, not GDP. Its GDP still exceedingly high, bigger than Japan or Germany's.

Also, it does not pay $84 billion to the US Government per year, it pays $84 billion MORE than it recieves back, and is the biggest donor state.
