The fact is that the ladies league has never turned a profit. Whether you finish that sentence with "ever" or "yet", there is still a process. I guess they signed a huuuge deal with ESPN for broadcast rights and if true, they can then negotiate a new CBA that will cut them in on the revenue.
That's how it works.
They are not special in any way, nor for any reason.
They're professional athletes / entertainers, and should be paid according to how much revenue they generate. It's that simple.
I am a Clark fan, but I would bet this matter isn't as personal to her as say the 9th player on the bench of a WNBA team, since she has a net worth of $4 to $5 million. Estimates have her now making about $11 million a year from endorsements, AND she recently signed a $28 million deal with Nike.
To say that her $80K / $90K salary doesn't dent her bottom line is a significant understatement.
