I paid $4995.00 35 years ago to go to heating and air school, of which refrigeration is the heart of, coolers, freezers, ice machines etc. I can't tell you how many times that money has paid itself back. Matter of fact I got a lead today for a term in Antarctica for $100K, you wouldn't think they'd need refrigeration down there but any establishment with a kitchen is gonna need coolers, freezers, ice machines, etc. and of course they need heat. I went to Vegas once looking for work but knew after arriving I wouldn't want to live there, but I get leads daily from people wanting me to interview with them because there is much more demand than people available, a guy I'm working with now keeps threatening to retire, so they keep throwing more money at him. All of the trades are like that, demand going up, capable people going down, President Trump was correct in saying he wants to take money away from the Harvards of the world and invest it in trade schools, it's all about learning something that has a demand for the services and gender studies aint it. I think those schools should pay part of the debt those students took on for engaging in bait and switch thievery.

That's trade school and if they accepted payments, you could literally pay it off with a part time job.

What's your point? That trade school is a better option? I'd agree with you on that. As for the "better than's" who got a degree as a doctor or lawyer and live in those certain neighborhoods where I'm "the help", that's why I dont work for them, I'm on the commercial side of things mainly restaraunts and quickee marts. I don't and wont work for people who wipe thier ass with 100 dollar bills, I do play games with them though, like telling them it's gonna be a few days before I can get the part they need, even though I have it on the truck the whole time, they'll never know. I've also went in on calls where thier starting price might be a few hundred dollars, but when they start playing thier games with me the price starts going up, that's how I keep smiling the whole time they keep treating me as "the help". "It was gonna be $250, but that'll be $750, sir" they'll never know, LOFL

Nah, the doctors and lawyers are up to their eyeballs in student loan debt. They just have more income to pay around with.

Thinking Black Man | DO NOT WANT TO PAY STUDENT DEBT. THEN DO NOT GET INTO STUDENT DEBT. | image tagged in thinking black man | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

I paid off mine, what makes a liberal think I should pay off theirs? Stupidity perhaps? no other explanation I can come up with!

I would agree with you if student loans were treated like any other kind of loan.
In reality you can't discharge them in any way. Not bankruptcy, not lawsuits nothing. The interest keeps compounding.
Really they should be illegal just on existing usury laws.

It's like credit card debt, I remember putting mine in hiatus or whatever they called it for 6 months and when time came to start paying on them again it was like I had never made a payment because the interest had kept calculating I did that twice and the third time I got religious about paying them back, theres no point in paying for a year, putting it on hold for 6 months and starting over with damn near what was the origional balance. Fannie Mae is a w**re.

And stop asking me to pay for kids public school. Especially when public schools are making money off of sport events, and school lunches. Public schools are becoming a tax payer bully in some states. In other states they are struggling because they rely on federal funds only. So it's a pretty messed up situation.

The issue is the loan companies keep giving loans out to people they know wing be able to pay it back because they know the goverment will pick up the slack and buy the loan.

No, they have not been doing this for decades because Biden said he was going to have the government pay their loans off a couple of years ago.

No, you misunderstand. A loan company gives a loan to a student, knowing it won't be paid back. Then when it goes delinquent, they sell the debt to the US government the government pays full price to the loan company including interest. The loan company makes out like a bandit, because the student never pays it back.

This is only for federal loans though. Private loans really get desperate college kids. Maybe if we had a government that regulated loan companies, lower or create laws that said student loans cannot charge interest above 3 percent, and set laws on universities that mandated how much they can charge for classes, dormortory and food, maybe adults from college wouldn't default. Don't get me started on the foreign exchange student. They could rack up debt and just move back home and forget about paying it. Like anyone from a foreign country.

We already have usury laws, but I'd be ok with capping interest and fees at 100% of the principal. Call everything else usury.

Biden did that for what, one? Two years?
NEWS FLASH: Trump & the Elonster had that stuff DOGE'd OUT.

Student loans were capped on federal loans only. Private loans were still charged interest. Just like car loans and mortgages. But anyone who was making under a certain amount of income during COVID under Trump could apply for rental payment assistance, and mortgage holders could get a free 15k payment made on their mortgage. Did we all forget about these programs under Trump? Now he's forgotten about the working class, and once again helps the businesses.
