Did you ever wonder if this site, or at least this stream, is really just one big prank?

if it's a prank, that is one brilliant prank.

but this stream has gone the way of all communities that have an ideological bend.
a few core, extremely vocal members will slowly clear the waters of any dissent. Slowly turning that community into a habitat that is comfortable for them and those who are like minded.

any opinions that are contrary are to be quickly attacked and mocked as being stupid, or anti (fill in blank) or outright blocked/ignored. Creating a perfect atmosphere to smell each others farts and call them righteous.

i miss this stream from years ago. had a lot of strong conservative and liberal thinkers, anarchists, socialists, communists etc. witnessed some really good arguments and some productive discussions. this stream had a pretty robust dynamic of political thought. it always leaned right, but it wasn't the lock step sycophantic monotone it is now.

it also had NAZIS, and KKK members but hey...those types were sport for me.

Christianity has an absolutely clean slate. Zero conquests. Zero deaths. Zero witch-hunts. Zero colonialism. Zero deaths. Zero slavery. Zero human rights abuses. Zero empire.

Well, yes. In some ways, you have a point. How can people who have PhDs in electronic engineering and astronomy still believe in a 7th-century book that thinks the universe is divided into 7 heavens? But same goes for Christians, mate. The world was created in 7 days. Noah's Ark is real. Ezekiel wasn't high on LSD when he saw his wheels. And every other absurd thing contained in the Bible that goes against modern science, morality and common sense.

Even Islam isn't so opposed to evolution and science so it's a bit of an own goal.

If you're an atheist, you might have more of a point. (Are you?) But if you're trying to argue some "Bible is better than the Qur'an" stuff, then be careful. Because there is way more weird shit in the Bible than the Qur'an. Way more.

In the Bible perhaps, in the way modern Christians treat others there's no comparison with Islam
