There is a difference between chosing to compete against men in an event; example charity tournament or all gender tournament.
and being in a womens tournament and having to fight a biological man fighting you.

Just like unisex bathroom/changing rooms are different from women bathrooms/changing rooms.

I completely agree with you. We should get rid of male and females sports and instead have groupings like boxing based on testosterone levels and muscle density.
