As an atheist I agree

Maybe this is why people hate socialism even though the bible says Isaiah 58:7: "Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help".

I like this one from II Thessalonians chapter 3: If any will not work neither should he eat.

The problem is people DO work and STILL can't eat. My mom works 8 am to 6 pm and barely has enough money to pay bills.

The Word of God does not promote Socialism.

Helping those in need is not Socialism.

I still don't see a lot Christians following that verse.

When thou gives alms do not sound a trumpet before thee as the hypocrites do that they may be seen of men. But when thou givest alms let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.

1. Unless you are omnipresent, don't you think that Christians do a lot of good things you know nothing about?
2. Christians routinely give more to charity than any other segment of society.
3. Why do you care, and why is it any of your business what someone else does?

This begs the question- what are YOU doing to help the less fortunate? I can give you a list of very good organizations where a larger % of your donations will actually make it those you want to help.

btw- The failings of others will make no difference for you when you stand before God one day. You will answer for what you did when it comes to His Son, Jesus. You will either answer and pay for your own sins, or you will have repented and placed your faith in Christ, thus accepting His payment for your sins.

Whether you end up in Heaven or Hell will have absolutely nothing to do with what someone else did or did not do.

No, I am not omnipresent, however I live in an incredibly religious community, and most of the time the people in the community don't help people unless they are also Christian.

Besides, I do and have donated money to people who've needed it when I actually have money.

You are absolutely right. Christians are commanded not to give to charity in an obtuse way but to do it secretly so as to not have the motive of being praised for it.

Secretly or not, there's still so much better they can do. There are Christians I know who do believe that they shouldn't have to actually give (my grandma is one of them...)
