They're still Red States, still at the bottom economically, still at the top with welfare, crime, health issues, assorted other social problems, and general malaise.

16 of the 20 most dangerous cities are Democrat Mayors. So Democrats aren't running them well.

So why aren't Republicans running them then?

It is interesting that in the past 3 years, millions of Americans have moved away from California, New York, and Illinois to "red" states of Texas, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.

If you define best by what blue staters used to like about their states before they became unliveable, then yeah, red states aren't desirable
