It was tried in the USA. The Marxist hippie communes of the 1960’s and ‘70’s failed as well.

The workers never own the means of production. They always end up slaves of the political elite. The political elite become the new bourgeoisie who control even more than the previous bourgeoisie. The means of production become so inefficient very little is produced and the proletariat goes hungry. When people go hungry they protest, and then the elites create a police state to control the people, state of emergency, president for life, the end. This is the pattern every time without exception.

And now some of them are running the world. Right now in history, it's looking like american commies might be the best at communism.
