Fact: the wealthiest countries are the most left leaning countries in the world. The poorer countries tend to be more conservative.
Australia might be more right leaning overall in its parliament but its voters are rich (compared to those in developing countries) and they're generally more left leaning.
Canada is the most progressive country I can recall. Not even Scandinavia is progressive.
The poorest countries tend to have far-right governments, hence why it gets neglected. Although many South American countries have more left leaning governments, but they're generally nowhere near as poor as the Middle East and North Africa
So, liberals in America are not turning America into a third world country. In fact, they have made America more developed than what the Republicans have.
The Republicans when they were more left leaning abolished slavery, the Democrats abolished segregation. Those are just the big ones liberals have done to make America more developed.
