Excellent distinction. (although it does seem to illustrate that the point of the meme may have escaped you)

The decision that is literally life altering and nearly impossible to reverse is the one the left wants to allow the child to make (with the left's *guidance* of course...) The decision that's just for better general health, the left *may* allow the parents to make. Time will tell if they try to take that away from the parents as well.

It's *almost* as if the left wants to take away the right of parents in the decision making process for what is best for their own children. What could be behind something like that? Certainly not govt over-reach, nor taking control of our lives away from us, right?

Who said anything about detransitioning? You would have to “transition” first. The point is childrens capacity to make those decisions when it is recognized that children can’t make adult decisions under the law and why child murderers are given lighter sentences because they were children and didn’t fully understand what they did. Pick a lane or better yet pull over and let someone else drive.

The entire argument of "why can the kids change their gender" is based on them regretting it and , guess what, detransitioning, possibly after getting a surgery because they weren't mature. unless you guys are just scared about children being happy which at this point would not surprise me in the slightest

That's a nice word-salad there that adds up to a whole lot of nonsense. Why don't we all just admit that tampon dispensers don't belong in public school boys restrooms and call it a day ok Cupcake? You may go back to your mental masturbation now.

I think the problem is very few here are discussing reasonable middle ground.
Allowing minors to identify as the opposite of their biological gender (clothes, names, pronouns) but putting off life altering physical medical intervention until they are old enough to comprehend it.
In some cases, maybe it is a phase, maybe it's not. It's important to allow them to go through it, to help them determine who they are. But it's important that we protect them from life altering changes that can not be reversed. Hormone treatments increase cancer and other medical risks, and the surgeries involved are purely cosmetic, and may damage or remove parts that they may decide they want after all.
Shoot, even though tattoos can be reversed and we still don't let minors get them.

De-transitioning isn't really the point of my post, but I see why you would talk about that based on how I made my point. Although, I only made the point I made in the way I did to make it very clear that it's a very significant thing to transition. Way more significant than when a kid goes to sleep each night.

Parents may not (and likely aren't) the "all knowing gods" on this subject, but were it my kid, I would damn sure get up to speed pretty quickly. Hopefully most parents would.

The simple point I was trying to get across is that human beings cannot make a life altering decision like this when they are minors. Their minds are not done developing. So there is an absolute reason why parents are legally allowed / required to make important decisions for children.

The control comment I made was a general one, but applicable to this situation, imo. The left wants major govt control over many aspects of our lives, period. I know you won't deny that, because (assuming you are on the left) that's what the left wants, because they have the belief that the govt knows what's best for us, more so than we do. Most freedom loving people will absolutely disagree with the notion that the govt knows what's best for us.

I'll put it in more simple terms: the regret rate is insanely low, and no child is getting surgery on them, I think at the very least they have to be 16 and have parental consent to even consider it

Children making decisions to amputate body parts isn’t considered prudent by sane people.
