The solution:

1. Outlaw abortion in the states with the most lax gun laws

2. Thoughts and prayers

Gun control:

- 2 or more generations of national family roots
- Owning a house, family, land or substantiated legal possessions greater than $20,000

- Not have declared or demonstrated against the country, its people or its symbols
- Not be linked to any gang or criminal organization

All we're asking is that people wait 5 days so that the assholes can't have their spur of the moment massacre.
4 ups, 2y
I understand the cooling off period for a first purchase, but if one already has 1+ at home, what good is a waiting period…

No seriously, I had cabbage and kielbasa last night, with a side of broccoli...

Your last sentence, "It's the guns" just negated everything else you stated above it. You're about as useless in a gun argument at damagedgood was.

Guns

Guns are a tool. It is an individual's motivation that kills.

Yes. Guns are a tool that can be used for mass murder. Nuclear bombs are a tool. Can the public use them? No. I wonder why?
1 up, 2y,

You would die of radiation poisoning trying to construct or store your bomb if purchased. Not to mention the million dollar price tag.

Food can be used for mass murder. Bombs. Planes. Cars. Medicines. Noxious gases.

Bombs are illegal yet people build them illegally.

Cars kill many more people than most other things but since you have need of the convenience of rapid transportation you won't give that up. Why not?

Opiates destroy families and end lives as do other medicines. But you can't help it if people become junkies, you need your medicine so you won't give that up. Why not?

Because these things give a feeling of safety and security to you. I would hate to be without either but you don't NEED a car. You don't NEED medicine.

Over half of all gun deaths are suicides, not mass murders. Mass murders are sensational and stimulate viewership. Viewership increases ratings. Higher ratings increases advertising rates and number of advertisers.

Get rid of guns and something else will take their place.

I think you keep forgetting the amount matters. Sure, you can kill people with pencils, or any other thing. But the amount of people you can kill with a gun is huge.
1 up, 2y,

If you think the amount matters we should ask ask the family whose loved one was the victim of a solitary murder.

Do you think they will be more grief stricken, less grief stricken or the same?

I think it will be the same.

You just proved my point. Guns cause more than one death, making it worse than a solitary murder but still bad for the family

Yes, but the difference is who have you heard of dying in a mass stabbing? Not many people. We hear about mass shootings every week almost

There was the largest mass killing at a US school ever that occurred in like the 30's committed by a man, I forget his reason - know how he did it?

He blew up the school.

If I remember correctly they found several more bombs that didn't explode due to faulty wiring or timer, trigger, something.

Where there is a will there is a way.

And that, my friend, is why bombs are banned.

Because. They. Can. Kill. A. Lot. Of. People.

Keep trying

Plenty of murders of one person occur by people shooting guns.

The UK has them, thesis. Not as many as we do, but they have them. Of course, there's quite a disparity in terms of population between the US and the UK. But no lib would ever take something like that into account.

There’s also much stricter regulations, and they don’t let normal people carry guns concealed
1 up, 2y
Keep trying what?

Point is bombs are banned yet bad actors still use them.

Ban guns and bad actors will still use them (Alec Baldwin e.g.).

Point is the rest of us would have nothing to stop them.

Police? Reactionary....takes several minutes to get on scene.

Defective people - that is the enemy.

If it's not the people pulling trigger at fault why do the people get imprisoned?
[deleted]

It is the persons fault, but also the fault of the government for allowing the gun. If I hand a knife to a kid, and that kid stabs someone, is it my fault? Yes.
1 up, 2y,
1 reply
Only if you handed it to the kid and instructed him to do another harm or you handed to the kid after he said he wanted to do someone harm.

What if you gave a knife to an adult?

If I give a knife to someone and they still hurt someone, I am equally at fault for supplying them

I disagree and I believe that a jury would hold you blameless if you had no foreknowledge and intent to aide and abet.

Being said, if you don't want to possess guns for yourself I support your decision. But I will not support you, or allow you, to give away my right to hold on to mine.

I don’t want to go to 7/11 and get murdered because some guy had a bad day at work and happened to have a gun. Now, let’s say this man has no prior health concerns, no mental disabilities, and a clean criminal record. There’s no reason (according to you) that he shouldn’t have a gun. So what if he wasn’t able to purchase a gun because of the laws, would he still have been able to kill people as easy? Probably not. It’s harder to kill with a knife that a gun.
1 up, 2y
Bad actors generally don't buy guns legally.

Have you ever considered the MILLIONS of Americans that own and carry guns in public while having bad days and shoot no one?
[deleted]
0 ups, 2y,

Yet it still happens. Just because a few people don’t do it doesn’t mean people don’t do it at all
1 up, 2y
Not a few, many millions do not do it

Very very few do.

It is a flawed human being.

Let me ask this - if citizens were stripped of firearms and flawed human beings began committing mass murder with swords, what would you say then?

Would you then consider the gun wasn't the issue?

Many against guns reference the UK citizenry being not permitted to own guns. Yet, there are guns used in crimes by citizens in the UK.

How is that possible?

Because, by cutting down on the magnitude of guns, less shootings happen. They will always happen, but to a lesser degrees if they are banned
1 up, 2y
I'm not going to do the period thing every word - 2 questions:

How will the shooter get the gun if guns are banned?

What is the acceptable number of mass shootings?
1 up, 2y,
1 reply
The government has no authority to prevent the people to keep and bear arms. You start giving away your RIGHTS and soon you will have zero.
[deleted]
0 ups, 2y
That was left over from when we were in an active war. Again, arms doesn’t mean specifically guns. Arms can mean swords, knifes, slingshots, anything that can be used as a weapon. You aren’t complaining that the gravity knife is banned in the US, and why is that?
0 ups, 2y,
1 reply
No. We want enforcement of the laws that already exist. And agree/believe/like it or not, it's still "people" that pull the trigger.
[deleted]

They have a lot of crazy British people but have no where close to the rate of shootings we have. Maybe it is the guns.
