How quaint. Tell that to the liberals who censured me for sharing their beliefs but not expressing them in the same way, and the conservatives who showed me kindness and tolerance even when I disagreed with them.

I agreed with that generatization until I met some who didn't, and some people from my own camp who did. In the face of empirical evidence (the stuff rational, scientifically-literate, open-minded people put stock in) I had no choice but to abandon my unilateral perceptions and concede that there are good people and shitty people represented in each demographic.

What troubles me most is that I've found more tolerance for ideological differences in the red camp than the blue one. Still reeling from that realization.

"Liberal" is only inclusion if you tick the right checkboxes and conform to the party narratives. If you tick the checkboxes but don't conform, they feel absolutely justified in attacking you in every vile way imaginable, from using racist or other prejudiced terms, to doxxing, to outright physical assault, including SWATing.

Another thing you need to recognize is that hate is always present on both sides, and the levels fluctuate wildly. It was at a low point on both sides in the 90s, but in the current era, there is far more hate on the left than the right. And that's largely thanks to Obama.
