We only are vocal about it because they tried to cancel it. We aren’t gonna yell “YAY! It’s Columbus Day!” Under normal circumstances.

Thanks; that's essentially what I was about to post. Conservatives support most traditional and historically established culture and events that ultimately support 'family values' patriotism, and vital aspects of capitalism -- for given definitions of the same -- over hate-filled, insane, and vindictive Cultural Marxism. Once leftists MADE Columbus Day an issue, Conservatives reacted. This isn't rocket science territory.
