"All they have are stupid claims which are not supported by evidence, like saying that the speed of light used to be faster in the distant past and it has slowed down since then. They provide no evidence that the speed of light was ever different."
Neither does the side you think you support.
"It hasn't caused scientists to reevaluate the entire origin of the universe, only certain aspects of it."
This is because they have no clue about the origin of the universe. They claim that at one point, there may have been a singular point in which all matter and energy existed, but they have no reasonable explanation for where that came from.
Either Someone Who is, by nature, eternally existent created all of this, or matter and energy must have that quality. We know it does not by reason of science.
But let's say that matter and energy were always there in that form. We would be able to go back 1,000,000 before the alleged Big Bang and it would be there; we could go back 100,000,000,000 years and it would have been there; and so on. If you think really, really hard about going back in time for all of infinity, if you get it right, you will realize then that is that were true, it would still be true today. Unless some outside force existed to alter it, something that by definition, could not exist.
"Some creationists try to get around this by saying that God created the light already on its way to Earth. Once again they have no way to demonstrate this and no way to show that that's even possible. It's a pathetic ad hoc argument because they're desperate for anything."
Very few, if any, say this, because that would not work when it comes to observing exploding stars, etc. Some secular theorists and theorizing that it is possible that once light leaves a source, it may well return almost instantly, etc. They theorize this because they do not have all the answers to explain what they are seeing. It may well be that we hardly know exactly how light works, even now,
Regardless, my position that is based on the Bible says that an all powerful, infinite God created everything we see. For Him, this was as if nothing, but for us, it boggles our minds.
The side you think you embrace has no answers to these dilemmas, yet you believe what they say anyway. What I have is an informed faith, while yours is a blind faith. They say it, and you believe it. They cannot prove it, you believe it anyway. They say they have evidence, which turns out to be cartoons,
