A shotgun. You choose a shotgun. It's a close-quarters situation where you want damage output to drop with distance to avoid collateral risk. If you're not choosing a shotgun, you're not solving a home defence problem.

I'm fine with whatever gun you want as long as it's not an automatic. You're not defending your house from an army and most home invasions are usually a few people. I'm also against it in the case that somebody who purchased an automatic gets some bad ideas and does you know what. At least with a non-automatic, an entire group of people won't be killed in one sweep.

And if somebody is getting a gun, we should do background checks and other procedures to make sure they would use a gun in no poor ways.

Automatics were banned years ago and with very few exceptions, practically all guns are semi automatics and can replicate similar fire rates with limited practice.
