People vote for whom they want to.
If you look at them as slaves, that's YOU looking at them as slaves, not someone else. Bad enough you typify people as some sort of color-coded monolithic block, reducing them to nothing but proxies in a silly partisan hack/exploitation game.
But your words are a reflection of your mentality and views, of which the biggest defense you'd be able to muster, ironically, is that you yourself had been conditioned into looking at them that way without giving it any thought. Your objectification of them, denial of autonomy, of free agency, is how you see them, which, incidentally, is how you see yourself, hence your need to define yourself in accordance to some larger group which really has little more than a superficial impact and interaction with your life.
Given what you had claimed in the past to have been your upbringing, it's ironic that you are till stuck in that mindset - or perhaps not, so ingrained you can't help but allow it to frame what you see in the manner that your mirror sees,,,
