Electric is a fuel. Gas (and diesel) are fuels. Electric can be made from MANY sources....all domestic like coal, nuclear, natural gas, wind, solar, hydro, etc. Gas and diesel is made from one source: oil. Which CAN be made domestically but we can't make enough to keep up with demand (and because of capitalism, oil companies sell domestic oil outside the US for more profits), hence high prices and the need for oil imports.

Adding EVs to the mix will reduce the demand for oil resulting in less oil imports and lower gas prices. Not replacing every gas car/truck or engine. Just ADDING EVs to the mix.

It's laughable how much hate EVs get because people blindly listen to their chosen cult leaders. No one is MAKING anyone get an EV. Making EVs out to be horrible is just funny. Because they will essentially help all Americans even if you don't want to drive one.

I am all for renewable energy. I just don't like agendas being forced onto me , the panic peddling of politicians turns my stomach, being told that the world will end if everyone on earth doesn't drive an ev and such. The earth will still be standing well after human beings have all turned to dust. I don't like either side trying to alter my decisions with fear . That seems like all they use these days. I'll most likely get myself a tesla in a couple of years when the parts and knowledge of repairing them is far more widespread.

Meh...look at others....Hyundai Ioniq5 is pretty awesome. Regarding repairs: like the article mentioned there *may* be some to be had early on but overall the repairs are FAR less than ICE vehicles. And no oil changes/tune ups/spark plugs etc

Although brakes and tires seem to wear faster.....
