Contraception costs almost nothing and Planned parenthood was literally giving them away, people didn't even bother, hence all the abortions.
$10 bucks isn't the problem its just an excuse for preventing.

If you can get a loan of 300 you can get a loan for 10
If you can sell items or put in overtime to get 300 you can do that for 10

and as its already being pointed out, 10 is an overestimate because some are $1 or even free.
