If any LGBTQIA2S+ identifying person thinks they're oppressed in the U.S., I would happily pay for them to travel to the Middle East so they can live freely and express themselves for a few years, then come back to the U.S. and shut the hell up.

Same with Christians, right?

Yes, exactly. Persecution Christians in the U.S. receive is very minimal compared to Christians in the Middle East, where they are endanger of death penalty.

So you agree with my point. Cool.

I think you made a clear point about the culture in the Middle East is very oppressive and in many cases violent against people whose lifestyle or beliefs conflicts with theirs. So there's really nothing that an LGBTQIA+ person should complain about living in the U.S.

or the netherlands, denmark, sweden, the united kingdom, germany, iceland, belgium, japan, or any real 1st world country; even canada. the only difference between florida and the emirates right now is that florida has trees

Another difference is that it's OK to mock the Florida Man but you never hear any jokes about the Emirate Man.

"Lol, are f**king retarded?"

ask that to just about anyone on imgflip and they'll return with a lie. are you retarded?

"Is Florida making homosexuality illegal?"

not /yet/

"Florida is merely only banning certain types of sex education from being taught to kindergarteners and that is not about being "anti-LGBT""

as if sex-ex in kindergarten was actually happening, which it wasn't. the bill was a waste of taxpayer money and ron desantis is a waste of space.

"Kids shouldn't be exposed to any type of sexual content at such a young age"

what about holding hands? there are loads of straight couples landing first base in kids' movies

"No wonder people are calling these outraged LGBT activists 'groomers'."

except in the open, the groomer-callers are going after innocent people. only recently was when a groomer-caller harassed a trans woman on a subway train, calling her a Chinese agent (which is implausable, given that she was white). she wasn't even being an activist chanting out sloppy political slogans. she was simply commuting from work.

"public school teachers are just not allowed to teach kids concepts they aren't old enough to understand"

if a student asks why two men are holding hands, or why her friend has two mommies, is the teacher not allowed to clarify that?

a cruel, merciless person would make this a discussion about the 1st amendment. let's avoid that shall we? :)

"Gays are not allowed to exist at all in those countries"

think you're confusing "existing" and "being open," my guy.

"When a gay person in UAE is even questioning their own sexuality, they live in fear of persecution until they are able to flee to the west for a better life and finally be free"

and if they do flee, they land in somewhere like Illinois or Pennsylvania instead of Texas or Florida. heck, quite a few also just go to western europe or canada. god knows it's not much of an upgrade in a place like tennessee or arkansas. the only real difference is that most of the buildings in orlando aren't high enough for fatal injuries as opposed to riyadh.

"In fact I'd say your comparison is an insult to those who are actually persecuted in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc."

insult, eh? pretty sure they'd be insulted by the don't say gay bill, which has that slippery slope to what the UAE does.

"If you ask me, LGBT people in the west should stop whining about their first world problems"

i'm sorry if innocent people not liking to be likened to pedophiles offends you.

"LGBT activists are trying to teach kids about concepts like masturbation, pansexuality, polyamory and even a drag bar in Dallas, TX with a neon sign saying "it's not gonna like"

the drag bar is something i don't condone, and you know it. texas being texas as usual. however, where the hell are you hearing about the rest of that stuff? how is pansexuality any different from the rest of sex-ed?

"'Groomer-callers' are not 'going after innocent people' they only go after people who do actually go after kids and do something as inappropriate as expose them to twerking drag queens"

not from the videos i've seen, my guy. a groomer-caller harassed a woman on the subway. the friggin' subway, and she wasn't doing anything.

"And are you really saying that Illinois and Pennsylvania aren't safe places for gay people?"

i'm saying illinois and pennsylvania are safer than either florida or the middle east, and that people running from persecution are usually going there instead of florida or texas. reread my statement on that matter

"There isn't a single state that tries to ban gay people from living their own lives and doing their own thing"

at least until the court threatens to reverse obergefell v. hodges

"And the 1st world problems of gays that I'm referring to is them complaining about people 'misgendering' them on Twitter, 'lack of lgbt representation' on TV shows and other trivial things"

then get off twitter and touch grass :)

I didn't know you don't condone the drag bar incident until you just told me just now. If some parents don't want their kids to learn about sex-ed until they are a certain age, it's their right to raise their kid the way they want and in my view it's not really a public school's place to intervene on such a personal issue. That subway incident is a horrible thing to hear but a one time transphobic attack by some hateful asshole who was punished for his actions by the law doesn't mean that society in general is unsafe for lgbt people. Also your imagining of obergefell v. hodges being overturned is once again overly paranoid hyperbolic imagining of something that hasn't happened. You imagining something isn't at all any sort of proof it's going to happen therefore not an argument.

"I didn't know you don't condone the drag bar incident until you just told me just now."

i would've assumed you knew that already since in the real world, you don't go assuming everyone around you is a pedophile.

"but a one time transphobic attack by some hateful asshole who was punished for his actions by the law doesn't mean that society in general is unsafe for lgbt people"

then there are talkers
advocate.com/news/2022/6/10/texas-pastor-calls-gay-people-be-shot-head
https://www.advocate.com/politics/2022/3/29/ex-gop-candidate-robert-foster-calls-firing-squads-trans-rights-supporters
matt walsh also said on his twitter that hormone therapy /even for adults/ should be illegal

"Also your imagining of obergefell v. hodges being overturned is once again overly paranoid hyperbolic imagining of something that hasn't happened"

a slippery slope for sure. wasn't the whole lgbtq rights will lead to pedophilia a slope as well?
point is, last month documents were leaked that supreme court were waiting to overturn roe. v wade., and a lot of pundits got beside themselves that other progressive cases would be overturned as well.
now this next hypothetical may sound hyperbolic, but who knows; if the streak continues, they could overturn brown v. board of education in 30 years.
