While it's true that wind and sun are not a constant source as they are dependent on the weather, I don't think it's necessarily true that they (or at least wind turbines) require batteries of any type let alone lithium ion ones.... I read something which seemed to claim wind farms can just be plugged into the grid and ultra-capacitors can be used for blade pitch control instead of batteries (and they last up to 15 years, considerably longer than batteries).. If the time is not peak usage hours, excess electricity generated can be used to power hydrogen fuel cells, compressed air, or other possibly useful things too.. Based on what I've read 1 wind turbine can power between 400-1000 homes depending on how efficient the houses are. Idk.
A nuclear power plant can obviously produce more but... who actually wants one of those (or the waste storage) anywhere near them?
